I take a seat at a booth and pray that Akim got hit by a car on his way here and that he doesn't show up.

I open up my laptop and immediately begin to work. I agreed to meet with him to continue searching for Marcello and I literally had to force my fingers to type the text message saying that I would meet him after he asked.

I have to not make it so obvious that I've known him for years and that he is literally my husband.

My phone rings for a thousandth time and I groan in annoyance. I hang up once again and silence it.

"You look so beautiful looking so concentrated." Akim unfortunately didn't get hit by a car and God didn't answer my praying.

I don't even look up at him or anything. If we're going to work together then it will be in silence while I ignore his existence.

He opens his laptop with a sigh and begins typing. That goes on for a while as I sometimes glance down at my phone that is still ringing in silence.

It's an unknown number and I really don't know who it is or what they want so there isn't really a reason for me to answer. They're insisting so it better be important.

"Get me a coffee." I grab my phone watching the caller continue to call.

I glance up at Akim who has a stupid smile on his for such a simple demand that I didn't even say in a nice way.

"Anything else, moya lyubov'?" He questions pulling his wallet out.

My emotionless stare and face tell him his answer, so he stands up and obediently goes to do as I ordered. Some things never change I remember when we would have small meaningless arguments and he would do anything I would say in order to make me happy. It just doesn't work that way anymore unfortunately for him.

I push those stupid thoughts away and finally answer my phone before he comes back.

"What?" I immediately ask wanting to make this quick.

"Morelia, you finally answer." A very unfamiliar voice speaks making me confused on who this could be.

"Who is this?"

"You'll know soon. I see you've reunited with Alina's paternal family."

I feel the world freeze at the sound of my daughter's name. I immediately begin to try and trace the call on my laptop.

"What do you want? I'll give you anything if you return her back to me." I am practically begging him with desperation as I quickly type.

"You're so close, but far." He chuckles causing me to furrow my brows in confusion.

"Stop looking and you might find her." They hang up before I get to even say anything or keep them entertained.

I lose signal of the call and I am almost burst into tears of frustration. I try my best to not do or feel anything especially since I'm in a public place.

I place my phone down on the table and take in deep breaths trying to calm myself down.

I sit there with so much negative emotions in my body that I don't even know which one to feel. I don't understand what that was.

He brought up the Ivanovs, he told me that I'm close and far, and that I need to stop looking to find her. I'm not some fucking mind reader to know what he was talking about.

I keep thinking over and over again about his words. It's like a puzzle that he sounded so sure that I'd get or maybe he thinks I won't because who would want to be found willingly?

Akim comes back and hands me my coffee that I had completely forgotten about.

"What's wrong?" He immediately asks with worry while inspecting my face. I simply shake my head continuing to think and refusing to stop.

Her paternal family.

Right now, I'm here with her father looking for Marcello. Leonid, who is her uncle, is away with Gianna to protect her from her brother getting to her.

I sip on my coffee staring down at the table while feeling Akim's eyes on me, but I ignore it.

Close but far.

Close to what? Finding her? Finding... Marcello?

Far as in what? As in distance?

Stop looking...

Stop looking for who? I'm looking for two people, but Alina would be the only logical answer. That doesn't make sense though because how would I find her if I don't look for her?

I look up at Akim from the table.

Marcello has been after his brother to destroy the Bratva and gain all the power. That's the only harm and threat toward them.

Stop looking.

Stop looking for Alina to find her because there isn't any reason to look for her and Marcello when they're at the same place...

Marcello is the one who took her from me. Why?

She's the daughter of an Ivanov and has their blood running through her veins. Marcello started his little war with them around the time Akim left.

He took Alina because Akim is her father, and he can use her against them. Except neither Akim nor his brother know of her existence.

"Morelia, baby, are you okay?" Akim interrupts my racing thoughts.

All I can do is stare at him because once again he is at fault for the pain that I'm experiencing. I can't say or do anything because he doesn't even know he is a father.

"I have to go." I force out and it comes out in a quiet almost weak tone.

I immediately stand gathering my things.

"What's going on?" He grabs me trying to stop me, but he isn't in a place anymore for explanations.

"Don't touch me." I move away from him and leave the cafe as fast as I can.

It's Marcello it has to be.

I have to look at and investigate every single one of the Ivanovs' enemies. I won't sleep until I'm sure of what I am thinking and have gotten somewhere with this.

I'm so close, he said it himself.
