II: F A R. F R O M. A FAIRYTALE

Quiet crystal tears tracing salty paths

Down cheeks soaking pillows

(Can't hold them back)

No one knows her (silent) pain

Nobody notices the tear stains

You were fire, burning bright and fast

(She was until the flames went out)

That was in the past

She keeps q u i e t

Waiting for the storm to pass

What a riot

For all her sass

She can't even pilot

The swerving M E S S of her life

A damsel in distress

Can't anyone see the princess?

But there's no prince

She's all ALONE

Lonely, waiting in that stone tower

Hour by hour

Let your hair down,

Your face creased into an eternal

F r o w n

Cry into the night

(Not that anybody would hear your plight)

(Not that anybody would even care)

(Would they dare?)

If you slept and never woke up

You'd be trapped in your eternal slumber

(Not that a prince would even have your number)

You are of the sea

And he is of the sky, the air, the earth

Your love could never be

Or you could live on land forever

(After a deal with a she-devil)

Sever your ties to the sea

And that's the best it could be

You fell into a dream spiraling down and down

Into a wonderland

(Dressed up in your sky blue gown)

Falsely accused of a crime

If you never woke up

Wonderland is no longer as divine

When you were a näive, innocent child

You believed you could fly, soaring high in the expanse of blue

But now you face the reality

You can't be ignoring

That it'll be true

For a second until you crash and burn

Gravity pulls you down and down

(And you're not of this earth)

(Not anymore)

You're overshadowed by your sinful sisters

You're sweet and kind, and you do just fine

(But one wish is all you desire)

They walk all over you like the doormat,

But you can deal with that

Your fairy godmother comes a day too late

(You're crying at your only desire never to be fulfilled

Hate, hate , hate

Broken wishes, broken promises.)

Was it too much to ask?

You can't control it, the glittering ice

You're the one who paid the price

(Whispers behind your back,

Monster, monster, not fit to be)

You slam your doors and lock them tight with padlocks

Shutting everybody out

All A L O N E

And you run away, to protect everyone

(Honey, you can't even protect yourself)

You can't even protect your sister

If you burn

You'll bring them all down with you

Cause you won't go out without a bang and a flash

(You want to see them BURN for all they've done to you)

(Vengeance, righteous fire and ash)

Don't always have happily ever afters

(Behind the curtains

Not all is what it seems)

Happiness is fleeting

Hold on to it tight

Before it takes flight
