goodbye (just for now)
she's not sure how she is still
a w a k e
it takes conscious
e ff o r t
to
keep her
e y e s
OPEN
(just barely)
she can't keep this up for much
l o n g e r
and
she
/yearns/
to
rest
(but if she shuts her eyes she doesn't think she'll ever be able to open them again)
(she's bone-deep world-weary and oh, so tired)
"goodnight," she whispers,
f a r e w e l l
please don't cry for me
we'll meet again
(just like before)
someday...
......
she closes her eyes
distantly hears voices calling her
smiles
(but she doesn't look back)
someday
when I finally go home
i'll be waiting for you.
