come back to me

a week is too long

Mayas pov 

Two days later 

"Good morning love bug." I say to drea as she rubs her eyes. "Do I get to go to Mama today?" She asks, which breaks my heart. "Yes, Bambina you do." I reply, putting on her outfit for the day. "I'm gonna drop you off at preschool, and mama is gonna pick you up." I say. 

"Why aren't you and mama in the same house?" She says, breaking my heart once again. "I made a bad choice, and Mama is upset with me. But it's not forever, love bug. I'll be back with mama soon." I reply, tears forming in my eyes. 

I drop her off at preschool and head to the station. Work is slow, not a lot of calls. I'm mainly just in my office, doing paperwork. Vic knocks on my door, and lets herself in. "What?" I say, not looking up. 

"You're moping around, and it's annoying. You need to find a way to win Carina back, because we're all miserable when you're miserable... Captain." She says, sitting across from me at my desk. 

"Hughes I don't need to hear it from everyone. I fucked up, and I'm trying to fix it." I say, continuing my paper work. "Well try harder." She says, grabbing the pen out of my hand. Finally  looking up at her, "It's not that simple." I say, sighing. 

"It is. You love her, she loves you. Don't lose that, life is short, Maya." Vic says. We laugh a little at how cheesy that was. "After work.." I start. "No, now. I'll cover for you. Go." She says. I take a deep breath "Okay" I say. "Okay" she says. 

I run to my car, but decide against it. I can get there faster on foot with all the Seattle traffic. I run past a flower shop, immediately turning around and running inside. "Maya! Can I help you?" The lady says, laughing at me a little. "Irises. Blue." I say panting. "Oh she's mad, isn't she?" She says smiling, making a bouquet. 

About three minutes later she hands it to me, and I try to hand her money. "No. Seems like you really need this one. I don't wanna lose my biggest customer." She says. "Thank you." I say, running through the lot, stopping at carinas favorite coffee shop, and grabbing her a cappuccino. 

I get to the hospital, jogging in with flowers and coffee in hand. "Captain. How nice to see you!" Bailey says smiling. "I thought you were on shift..." I cut her off. "Is she in her office?" I ask, still catching my breath. "Yes. Did you run here?" She asks, but I already left. 

I knock on her office door. "Come in." She says. I open the door, breathing heavily, silent. She looks up, tears forming in her eyes. I walk over to her desk, handing her the coffee and putting the flowers in the empty vase at her desk. 

"Please. Let me come home. I can't do this anymore without you. Andrea can't do this. I know I fucked up, and I know you feel like you can't trust me. I know, and I understand. But Carina, our story is so beautiful. It's messy, but it's beautiful. I can't let one thing ruin what we have. I'm so sorry, Carina. It will never happen again. Please. Take me back. Please, let me come home. I'm so in love with you. Please." I say, just spitting out whatever words come to mind. 

"Maya." She says sighing. 

"I know. We can figure this out together, I'll keep talking to Diane, and we can go together. Bella, I'll spend the rest of my days begging for you to take me back. I love you. Please." I say, tears streaming down my cheeks. 

She stands up, walking behind me to close her office door. I try to face her, and I'm met with her lips on mine. The kiss is deep, and intimate. The type of kiss you see in movies. She pulls away, putting her forehead on mine. "Please come home." She whispers. "Yes. Of course, yes." I reply, kissing her again. 

My phone starts ringing, it's Vic. "Vic I...oh. Okay, I'm on my way." I hang up. "It's a four alarm, I have to go. But I love you, and I'll see you at home after work." I say smiling. She kisses me once more, "si, I love you. Be safe. See you at home." 

I run out, feeling my heart race with excitement.
