4 weeks.
It had now been.
A month since she was left alone again. At least this time she was safe.
She buried Bill and Frank a week after they left her. She couldn't bring herself to do it when it first happened, she was to sad, she missed fighting with Bill and laughing with Frank, she just laid in bed for a week in silence.

But she finally brought herself to bury them, still keeping their window open though, it was her way of always saying bye to them, cause every time she would look at the open window it was like her sign they were still there.

She looked into the mirror of the bathroom, sage perched on the counter sleeping, she had just finished showering and decide to trim her hair.

The golden locks laid across her shoulders and reached down to her belt. She cut it to where her hair would lay only an inch or two above her belt so right below her rib cage. Deciding it was good enough she walked out of the bathroom in her pajamas, sage following her immediately as she went to her room.

She sat in her bed and opened the book she was reading currently, The Things They Carried, while she turned on her favorite song Bill and Frank had put on her Walkman, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.

She sat there peacefully with sage in her lap as she read. Soon enough though she dozed off with the sun beating on her pale skin through her window, sage was now on her chest purring loudly and she had one of her hands rested on him and the other in her book keeping her page so she wouldn't lose it.

She shot up out of bed quickly though, practically throwing sage off of her as she heard a loud squeak from of the doors downstairs.

She silently crept across her room and grabbed her gun, opening her door softly she carefully crept across the hallway with her gun pointed up, ready for whatever was intruding her space.

"Bill!" She heard from downstairs

"Frank!" The same voice called out.

It was Joel, she knew his voice. She put her gun to her side and walked towards and down the stairs meeting him.

"Hi Joel"

"Lily, where's Bill and Frank?"

She reached the bottom of the stairs and looked up at him as she leaned slightly on the railing, "dead" she put it plainly, trying to mask her hurt over the current situation.

"Lily, how long have you been alone, you could've sent out the radio signal" he stated as he looked down at the girl, his eyes softening at the realization of what she had just told him.

"It's been four weeks, so a month, and I didn't wanna bother you, it wasn't like anything crazy happened" she shrugged her shoulders before continuing, refusing to meet his eyes now and instead looking towards her feet. "Frank got old, got sick, not like I'm gonna eat you sick, he just got sick, and Bill couldn't live without him so they took a fuck ton of pills and went to bed" she said sadly, doing her best to not look at Joel as she walked into the kitchen past him.

"Bill, he wrote you a letter, guess he knew you were gonna show up at some point" she handed him the letter as he took a hold of it.

Sage came running down the stairs and rubbed himself up against Joel and moved to the girl behind him who Lily had just noticed.

She looked at her, up and down, first thing that came to her mind was fuck she's pretty.

But she pushed that aside and looked back to the girls eyes, "I'm Lily" she introduced herself, "Ellie" the girl replied.

She only nodded to her and looked back at Joel who's face fell at some point of the letter. "Where's Tess?" She already knew the answer, she felt it.

"Got bit, couple days ago"
