She didn't end up waking up, or as soon as she thought she was going to. She actually slept for once.

Lily groaned and stretched out, rolling over she felt the space next to her was empty. Her eyes snapped open and looked around frantically searching for the brunette girl who should've been next to her.

Pushing her sleeping bag off of her she accidentally threw her cat who ended up tangled by her feet in the sleeping bag.

"Oh shit, sorry baby" she said quietly and picked him up while standing. She looked over and saw Joel passed out, she chuckled lightly and set sage down by his face. The cat immediately crawled under his arm and started purring.

"I'm up here" she heard Ellie's voice call, she looked up and saw the girl on top of the same rock as last night. Slowly Lily climbed up to her. "Jesus dude, you gave me a fucking heart attack" Lily mumbled rubbing her eyes and yawning once she got to the top.

"How long have you been up?" Lily asked, "mmm maybe an hour or two" Ellie responded standing up with Lily as the girls over looked the view in front of them.

"Why didn't you wake me up?"

"Cause you needed to sleep, normally I'm the one waking up alone and I didn't, so I let you this time"

Lily smiled and ran a hand through her hair, "come on, let's go back down" Lily commented already making her way down, Ellie followed shortly after her as they leaned up against a rock. Ellie still holding Joels gun.

"So uh, about last n-" Lily started but was cut off, yet again by Joel himself.

He sat up quickly as his eyes found both of the girls, "still mumbling in your sleep" Ellie commented looking at him smirking.

"I woke up early, you were passed out so I took second watch" she informed him, "you gotta wake me up if that happens, you can't do things like this, either of you" he grumbled standing up, his voice still hoarse from sleeping.

Lilys eyes met sage as he stretched and pranced over to her and rubbed himself between her legs over and over again before sitting by her feet.

"But I can, cause I just did" Ellie shrugged, a smug look spreading across her face.

"I'm responsible for you guys okay"

"Then don't fall asleep" Lily chuckled and crossed her arms looking at the man as it was clear he was still waking up.

"I was quiet, I checked my six, I looked for tracks, I found the high ground, and I kept watch. Like you taught me to. What can I say man, I'm a natural" Ellie said, proud of herself. Lily smiled at her, "this is like a proud mom moment for me, ugh she's growing up" Lily pretended to wipe fake tears from her eyes, earning an elbow to her side from Ellie.

"Uh-huh" Joel mumbled taking the gun from Ellie. "Next time, you wake me up"

Ellie nodded at him, "yes sir" she smiled while Lily jokingly saluted him before going to grab her shit. Deciding to keep her bow out today instead of a gun.

She always liked the bow more, but guns were more convenient when you're surrounded.

They ended up crouched by the river, both girls behind Joel as he held his gun up, like he was expecting a herd of clickers to charge at them.

"River of death, still no people" Ellie spoke up. "Fine" Joel grumbled before standing, the girls followed him close behind as they began walking onto a bridge.

Lily kept ahold on Ellie's backpack as she felt the bridge would give out under them at any moment.

"What are you nervous" Ellie teased her looking over her shoulder, "yes you bitch what if it broke and we all fell into the water and died from hypothermia, I don't wanna get wet, or cold" Lily snapped at her.
