I was going to head back to the pack village, but I didn’t want to. I wanted Daniel to worry about me some more and I wanted to come find me. I had to get some things sorted out. How was I going to get the rogues from killing anymore villagers? Grey’s pack wasn’t a threat at the moment, but they could be at any time. I had to be ready for anything. I rode on in circles it seemed and I felt like I might have been a little lost, but I soon find myself at a pool of water with a lovely and mystical waterfall dropping down gracefully.
I had never seen this before and it was a beautiful sight. I get off Delilah and let her wander. It was cold and I sit on the edge of the ground looking at my reflection in the water. There was steam rising from this small pond/lake. I didn’t know what to call it.
I look back into the darkness. This place seemed to be glowing with life despite everything dying around it. It was odd and not normal. The water was glowing a beautiful blue color. How come I have never seen this place before? I wasn’t allowed in the woods but that didn’t mean I never went exploring. I take off my boots and my socks. I roll up my pants and stick my feet into the water. It was so warm…warmer than a bath. I sigh happily and lean back on my elbows.
I could stay here forever. It felt so nice and so warm. Speaking of—I was actually getting hot. I take my pants off and my cloak. I set my clothes beside me. I look down at the magical water. If only I could just go swimming in it. There was nobody around—I could do it. Something told me that it wasn’t the best idea, but I wanted to swim in that water. The only sounds that I could hear was the waterfall and my feet moving back and forth in the water. Another voice was telling me that I wanted to go for a swim. I really did want to.
“I want to.” I say quietly. I take off my sweater and my shirt so I am just in my underwear and bra. I shiver a little bit and I hear Delilah whinny. I shush and then slowly slip into the water. The warm water felt fantastic on my skin and I can’t help but smile. I felt like I was swimming in silk. I look around me and the water is still glowing, but everything else is dark. I didn’t even want Daniel to come anymore.
I dive under the water loving the feeling of the water flowing through my hair. I come back up and swim around for a few minutes before something odd happens. I felt something bump my leg. It felt scaly and I look underneath me. I don’t see anything. Maybe it was time to get out…I start swimming towards where my clothes were.
Before I could make it to the edge, I was pulled underneath the water. Something grabbed my foot and dragged me down to the bottom. I was thrashing my head around and I tried to kick my feet, but the grip was really strong. I open my eyes to see my assailant. Her hair was red and so long and her skin was really pale. What scared me was the tail she had. This…thing had no legs whatsoever. She smiles in the water and suddenly I am calm. It was like I didn’t need to breath or anything. She takes my hand and we go deeper. Glowing plants and flowers start to emerge. It was a whole other world down here.
Hello my daughter. I look at her. She just spoke through my mind. I look around. Why was she calling me daughter? I didn’t think mermaids existed but then again, I shouldn’t be so surprised. What the hell was going on. Did she bring me here?
I did bring you here. I have been watching you from the ocean and the streams. This all seemed so weird. I was under the water and I wasn’t struggling to breath or anything. This was all so mystical. What did the mermaid even want with me? Why has she been watching me?
You are of great interest to me. The girl who walks with wolves. The girl who will stop the madness of the Weres and the humans. I didn’t understand why she cared about what happened above the water. It wasn’t like it was effecting her or her people, right?
