A few days had passed since I woke up from my transformation. I had mermaid eyes because I was sired to the mermaid, but I was still a wolf. Daniel did not like the fact that I was sired, but it was better than me being dead. I had been getting use to my body and I found that I had so much energy. I ran faster and smelled all these amazing and not so amazing things. I was stronger and leaner and just overall better. I hadn’t actually shifted into a wolf and Katarina said that when I was ready and my wolf was, then it would happen. As for now, everyone was just showing me the ropes.
Daniel kept talking to me about my father and how I needed to speak with him about the attacks. He needed to know that Daniel’s pack was not the one killing all the village people. I didn’t want to talk to my dad because I still felt betrayed by him. He exiled me from my family—from everything I have ever known. If it wasn’t for Daniel, who knows where I would be.
I started walking downstairs to the dining room. The entire pack was going to be in the dining room tonight. We had to come up with a plan as to how I was going to talk with my father. I didn’t even agree to this yet and I know I didn’t want to. Daniel wanted peace and he too also wanted these rogue wolves out of the area. It was affecting their hunting and causing issues with my village. I didn’t want any more people to die, but how could I face my father?
I walk down into the dining room and take a seat to the right of Daniel. Adam was to his left. Everyone greeted me with a light smile although this pack meeting gave us nothing to smile about. All the pack members were very helpful in teaching me how to hunt and whatnot. The past two days have been nothing but that and I grateful for their help. Diana was even a little nicer to me now that I was like her. Before, she looked down upon me because I was a human.
“Okay, so we need a way to get Calla in the village.” Daniel starts. Right away, people start talking about some ideas they had. Some said something about all of us going in human form. I said that it would work because all strangers are treated to the cell until they find out where they are from and they would kill me on spot. In fact, every idea would fail because I would just end up getting killed before I could even speak to my father.
“I am exiled. His men are trained to kill me no matter what.” I tell everyone. They all stared at me in amazement. Everyone was still trying to get used to my eyes. I wondered if they would be like this forever or until my debt to the mermaid was paid.
“Then we will fight anyone who tries to kill you.” Adam says. People nod in agreement. That entire idea would just be counterproductive. I shake my head and Daniel speaks.
“We want peace. Hurting them would only make things worse.” Daniel says. Everyone becomes quiet.
“How are we to protect her?” Someone says.
“We need a shield or something.” Diana mutters. That sparked an idea in me. I had something that my father didn’t. I had a witch, Pinto. Perhaps she could make spell that would not only shield me but everyone who came with.
“I have an idea. Pinto is a witch. She can cast a spell to protect me and whoever else is going.” I say. Daniel entertains the idea and he thinks it is worth getting Pinto over and asking her.
“Who would go with me?” I ask around.
“Well Adam, Diana, a few others and myself would go with you just in case.” Daniel tells me. I nod and look around. Everybody seemed like it was a good idea. Now we just needed to make sure that Pinto would be able to do it. Her powers were limited because she was a young witch. I just hoped that she was still at my grandmother’s house. It had been a while since I have spoken to any of them.
