Diana was brushing out my hair gently as we sat on the bed. When she offered to do my hair before the “pack meeting” tonight, I couldn’t refuse. I wanted her to like me for Daniel’s sake. She was braiding it in an intricate pattern that was something I had never seen before. It was really pretty and when she was done, she tossed me some clothes to wear for tonight. They were casual clothes and for once I wouldn’t have to wear a dress.
“So what are we going to talk about in this meeting?” I ask Diana. She sighs and sets the brush on the dresser.
“Well Daniel will introduce you to the whole pack and then he goes over territory stuff. It is pretty boring.” She tells me. I nod. I knew how those kinds of meetings went. My father always talked about the most boring things—my family. Just the memory made me miss them and all I wanted was to see my entire family again with the exception of my father. I was so angry at him. I was his daughter and he just casted me aside.
“Great.” I say. Diana laughs a little and before I know it, we are heading downstairs. We walked into this huge room and there were probably around sixty people or so. The bad part was that they were all staring at me. I focused my eyes on Daniel who was sitting down on a loveseat and the spot next to him was empty. I quickly took a seat next to him. He smiled and squeezed my hand.
“Calm down Calla.” He says. I nod and take a deep breath. A few more people scramble in at last minute and then Daniel starts. He talks about the attacks in my village and how we could not be near there any longer since Adam got shot and taken. People look a little worry about this and I didn’t blame them. No doubt that my dad would be forming a hunting party. Then Daniel talked about how they would be running guards along the territories since it seemed that another pack was close by.
“Lastly, I would like to introduce to you all my mate. Calla.” Daniel says gesturing to me. I look at everyone and awkwardly wave. It was weird to see that Daniel was Alpha and then seeing people older than him in his pack. It was just kind of weird because things would not be run this way in my village. Then again, I wasn’t a werewolf. “She will be staying here from now on.” He finishes. Then we all head into the huge dining room. Several people walk up to me and kiss my hand. They welcome me into the pack and then a few children run around me. One child wraps its arms around my leg. I smile and the woman I was talking to grins. We had children in the village, but I never interacted with them that much.
“Oh. Hi there.” I say with a smile. The little boy grins up at me and he had the cutest little gap in his tooth. He was maybe only five years old.
“Daniel likes you. He’s your boyfriend.” He tells me. I laugh and pick the little boy up. His legs wrap around my waist. I look over at Daniel who is speaking with an older man.
“Oh really?” I say looking back at the little boy. He nods with a grin on his face. I didn’t know if it was because of his big beautiful brown eyes or his cute smile that did it, but he made me want to have kids.
“Yes! My name is Josh.” He says and then kisses my lips gently. I was shocked that a little child had the audacity to do that but it had to be the cutest thing ever. I then felt a pair of hands rest on my hips and Josh wrapped his hands around my neck.
“Are you kissing my mate?” I hear Daniel say. I smile and Josh giggles. Daniel gives him a warning look and Josh kisses my cheek before wiggling out of my arms and running away. I turn to face Daniel.
“You scared him.” I say in a teasing manner. Daniel shrugged his shoulders and pulled me closer.
“Well you are my mate. I have to protect what is mine.” He says in my ear. I roll my eyes, but I was actually highly amused. Was Daniel jealous of a five year old? A few moments later we all had dinner. It was filled with meat that was practically raw—it was cooked but very rare and I tried to eat it to be polite, but it was hard. After dinner, I headed upstairs to retire for the night.
