A New Me

I had no idea how long was screaming or how long Daniel was holding my hand. It seemed that this pain would never end. All I wanted was the pain to go away. I felt like my body was on fire and all my muscles hurt. I had a terrible headache and I kept seeing things—like hallucinations. I finally passed out but I didn’t know when. How long would I be asleep? My mind was not allowing me to wake up even if I wanted to.

“Calla…” I kept hearing my voice. I forced my brain to answer this voice. I have been asleep for too long. Suddenly, I wake with a jolt. My sight is blurry and then when I focus everything is different. The colors are more vibrant and I can actually see particles in the air that are otherwise microscopic.

“Her eyes.” Someone says. That someone was Diana. I focus in on her. Everything was so vivid and it was giving me a headache. I rub my forehead and then look at Daniel.

“What about them?” I ask. I sounded more intense than I wanted to. I just felt so on edge. I get up fast and Daniel reaches for me but misses. I felt lightheaded from getting up so fast but I push the feeling away. I walk towards the mirror and stare at myself.

My skin looked luminous and my hair seemed darker and healthier. I looked at my eyes and they were no longer the green-blue color, but a grey-purple color. Daniel’s didn’t look like this at all. His were yellow when he went wolf but blue when he was human. I look at everyone in the room. Diana, Daniel, his mother, and Adam. Why was I different? Even when I was a werewolf, I was different.

“What is wrong with me?” I ask. Daniel rushes towards me and I growl.  I didn’t know why. He stopped and moved slower towards me. He then wraps me up in a hug. His familiar scent made me more comfortable.

“Nothing is wrong with you. You are fine.” He whispers. I pulled back and sat back down on the bed. I felt so weird and I kept licking my teeth. They felt sharper and I had a craving for meat.

“How long have I been asleep?” I ask looking at everybody. Nobody would look me in the eye. I was growing frustrated by this.

“A few weeks. You have healed very nicely and your transformation was relatively smooth.” Daniel’s mother says. “Why don’t we get you in the bath?” She suggests. I nod and they help me into the bathroom although I didn’t need any help. Daniel and Adam go downstairs.

I get in the bath and Diana runs the water. The warm water felt good on my skin and I just wanted to lay in it forever. They watch me move carefully and slowly. If I moved too fast, I would get lightheaded.

“You will get used to your body soon enough.” She says. Everything looked so different and I noticed things that I usually never did.

“Am I a werewolf now?” I ask them quietly. They do not say anything. Daniel’s mother looks at me.

“We think so dear.” She says. They think? What happened to me and why am I not a normal werewolf? “Don’t worry about Calla.” She adds after she sees the expression on my face.

Once I was done with the bath, I got dressed and I went downstairs. I was followed by Diana everywhere and it was aggravating as hell. I just wanted to be left alone with Daniel. I sat down at the table and Daniel set a plate of meat in front of me. It was like they were testing me or something. I didn’t like it. I cut the meat and pop a piece in my mouth and chewed. It tasted good and I took another bite. Daniel and the rest of them seemed to relax. I finished the food and then go back upstairs. I was alone in my room for a little while and then Daniel came in.
