I made it to the meadow pretty quickly because I was moving at such a quick pace. I wanted to hurry this little shindig up so I could get back to my grandmother. There was something odd about her getting sick because of the dreams. I only asked her that so I could get her talking. I never thought dreams could make you sick. I needed answers, but I had no idea where I could find them. Books were probably my best bet at this point.
I sat on the rock and basked in the sun for a few minutes while I waited for Daniel to arrive. I was nervous about meeting his mother, but those nervous thoughts vanished when the sun hit my skin. I wish I could be like Cole who got tan easily, but I would also stay the same milky white skin color no matter how much I was in the sun. I just loved being in the sun and being outside. I heard a twig crack and I opened my eyes. A wolf came into view—it was Daniel. I could tell by his black coat and yellow eyes. He shifted into his human form and I smiled when I saw his gorgeous blue eyes.
“What is wrong?” That was the first thing he said to me. Did my face show something was wrong? I did smile and I was trying hard to put thoughts of my grandmother aside.
“My grandmother is sick. Uh—how can you tell?” I say. No point in keeping things from Daniel. He walked closer to me and hugged me close to his chest.
“I felt that something was wrong.” He says and finally pulls away. I raise a brow at him. What was that supposed to mean? He felt it? I cross my arms over my chest.
“You felt that something was wrong?” I ask. He just nods and doesn’t elaborate further which irked me a little bit. I wanted answers but instead he was just setting me up to ask more questions.
“We must head to the village. My mother is waiting.” Daniel tells me. I nod and decide to hold off the questions for now. We walk in silence until we get to the village. People were out and about and it looked like any other normal village, but I know that my father would spot out some odd qualities. The symbols they had all about the village was like the ones on my necklace and it smelled of raw meat. The houses were also very earthly compared to house in my village. My father would tear this place apart if he ever found it.
I luckily don’t see Diana on the way in. I hoped that I wouldn’t see her at all today. She really didn’t like me and she made me feel uncomfortable. Although, I did like Adam. He seemed nice enough and I think him and Diana had something. We walked into the familiar house which was known as the pack house. Instead of heading into the dining room, we go into a different room. It was dark and the place smelled of incense. My eyes landed upon a woman with brown/silver hair and blue eyes. She was beautiful for her age and she also looked intimidating.
“Mother, this is Calla.” Daniel says. She looks at me and then arches her brow and looks back at Daniel.
“This is the Calla?” She asks. Daniel nods and I can sense how nervous he is. I was so nervous as well. This woman scared me a little bit.
“Leave us my son.” She says to Daniel. I look at Daniel and he turns to me. He squeezes my hand.
“I am right outside.” He whispers. I nod and watch him leave the room. It was just his mother and I now. She gestures for me to sit down and I take a seat in the armchair across from her.
“My name is Katarina. Daniel is my son and you are a beautiful young girl.” She says. I smile shyly and watched as she took a drink out this chalice looking cup. I wondered what we were going to talk about. She looks at me and her eyes travel down to the necklace I was wearing.
