Chapter nine

Luke's P.O.V

„Luke? Do you know where Avery is at?" Ally spoke through the phone sounding worried and stressed.

„No? Haven't heard from her since yesterday why?"

„Well she met with Jake to talk and she told me she'd come round at like 10 and it's almost midnight now!"

„Have you tried to call her?"

„Yes you dumbass that's what I've been doing for the last fucking hour!!!"

„Right sorry. Do you have a clue where she could be?"

„Well yeah she and Jake always used to go to that place she took me there a view times"

„Alright I'll be round yours in 10 we'll see I'm sure she's fine and they're just having a coupley moment"

„You can't have a coupley moment with Jake though" she mumbles and hangs up.

Of course I was worried about Avery. I know what Jake can do and I'm scared what he could've done to her.

I grab my phone, keys and wallet and drive to Ally's house.

The whole drive I blamed myself. I could've protected her. I could've saved her if anything happened.

I pushed those thoughts away.

Avery was fine. She was just fine.

Nothing happened to her! She's just making out with Jake somewhere.

That thought didn't sit too well in my head either but it was better than imagining her injured or dead.

No she wasn't dead.

I can't think like that I'm just stressing myself out over nothing.

Ally was already waiting outside.

She jumped in before I could even stop the car.

„Hey so you know like the cliffs at the beach? Yeah the one on the very top where you can see the sea and sunset perfectly? Yeah right that's where she is I'm sure!"

„Alright Ally you need to calm down! I'm sure she's fine" honestly I'm just saying that to calm myself.

„Luke you don't understand! You met Avery like what yesterday? I've known her for my whole fucking life!! She's my best friend. And Jake almost killed her before. I found her laying blood covered in her living room." She screams tears streaming down her face.

„She didn't leave him after that?" I just can't figure this girl out.

„No. She claims they just had a fight and when she wanted to leave she just tripped and fell down the stairs but we both know that's total bullshit!"

„That's not gonna happen again I'm  sure. We have to think positive now and stay calm. This isn't good for either of us" I say placing my hand on Ally's knee.

I don't know Ally too well. Just when we were at Janes she would be around sometimes but nothing more.

She's a great friend and Avery's lucky to have her.

„I'm just really worried that I'll lose her. They were on a fucking cliff God knows what happened oh my god what if he pushed her.." She starts to cry even more pulling her knees to her chest.

„Hey we don't know if they were even on that cliff! They may have just been at home!" Ally is making this really hard to stay calm.

She silently cries in the passenger seat as I drive to the cliff as fast as possible.
