-in a dream-
RICK DECIDED to take a small group with him to go save Merle. Atlas was one of them. He felt as if he needed to put some work into this, do his part. We all had our own parts to play at this camp.
Atlas liked going out on runs because he'd put an extra little task to find some baby stuff for when the baby is here.
I sat next to the girls by the deep water so we can clean the clothes. This wasn't something I was used to doing, but we don't have a washer or dryer anymore so we have to do everything by hand.
Further out Shane began shouting and tossing water at Carl. The boy was laughing.
"Can someone explain to me how the women wound up doing all the Hattie McDaniel work?" Jacqui says. I chucked and sigh.
"The world ended. Didn't you get the memo?" Amy replied.
"It's just the way it is." Carol adds. I nod in an agreement with them so they know I am listening. We all were wet as we scrubbed each individual piece of clothing clean.
"I do miss my Maytag." Carol begins.
"I miss my Benz, my Sat Nav." Andrea continues.
"I miss my coffeemaker with that dual-drip filter and built-in grinder, honey." My face brightens up when Jacqui mentions coffee. "Oh my god, same."
"My computer... and texting." Amy joins in.
"I miss my vibrator." Andrea just spits out and I couldn't help but look over and smile with my mouth slightly open in a shock.
"Ohhh!" Jacqui gives the same look.
Amy bursts out in a small laugh, "Oh my god!"
Carol fidgets a little and looks around before saying, "Me too."
We all are shocked and laughing loudly. I put my hand on Carol's shoulder as I lean into her with a laugh.
"What's so funny?" Ed, Carols husband, walks over with a cigarette between his two fingers.
"Just swapping war stories, Ed." Andrea answers.
I have a faint smile on my face. We all go back to washing the clothes in silence. But I can still feel Ed creeping up on us. I slowly look over my shoulder and I didn't notice Andrea did too when she speaks up, "Problem Ed?"
"Nothin' that concerns you." I roll my eyes hoping he didn't see. "And you ought to focus on your work. This ain't no comedy club."
Andrea scoffs and looks over at us seeing if we are just annoyed as she is. I give her a look and we both look back down to the clothes.
The sound of a lighter fidgeting on is all we hear besides this water. The smell of the smoke was staring to irritate me. I slowly start to get up to leave, the smell of smoke was making me feel sick. The girls would understand.
