9pm in NYC
Samir's POV

"SALEM WHAT ARE THESE!" Yadira yelled out in the kitchen.

It was 9 on a weekday and I was actually being a scholar for once. I was getting my work done...trying to get my work done.

But it was hard to focus when there was all of this yelling going on outside my room.

It had been going on for about an hour. It was light at first until voices were raised.

From what I heard, I picked up that Yadira had found other pills, not the ones prescribed to him around the room. Now they were going back and forth about it.

When they started arguing, he decided to go and pour himself some alcohol, so now his words were slurred and they were yelling.

And Emil was texting me about Katrina, And Kori wanted to call me but I didn't want her hearing all this background shit.

And I have missing assignments to make up.

And my aunt is trying to get me back at her house so I was gonna have to deal with more shit going on and meetings and papers.

Everyone was loud.

Everything was loud.

I just wanted another break like I had a few weeks ago in Pennsylvania.

But with school and family life crowding my head, it was hard to make up time for just myself to relax.

My room is the closest place to a break I have, and even that is starting to feel claustrophobic.

"YOU'RE TRYING TO KILL ME!! YOU-YOU HAVE BEEN POISONING ME AND NOT LETTING ME HAVE THE PILLS I NEED!" My dad yelled back to Yadira.

I closed my books and shit. I'll finish them up, I promised myself that I would complete all of these assignments. I just can't focus for shit right now.

I was already dressed in sweats and a long sleeve tee. They weren't my pajama so I just threw on my hoodie and then my north face.

I grabbed my phone, wallet and weed before heading out my room.

They didn't notice me until I was at the front door putting on my shoes.

"Samir where are you going?" Yadira asked in a firm tone. But I completely ignored her and turned up my music.

Then they were both yelling after me, as I left the apartment with my board.

Hey, your love, is so amazing
It's all I want, got a nigga faded
Shawty on fire, and she really blazin
Flames armageddon, yelling "Jesus save me"
Ima take her soul, if she try to play me
Cause that's all mine, that's my lil baby
I'm in all white, like the fucking eighties
Throwing up the roc, like a nigga Jay-Z

It's so funny seeing things play out exactly how you knew they would. I knew this was how things would turn out.

I knew he was gonna go back. I knew Yadira would be his new target. But it's still just sad to see how some things  never ever change for the better in my life.

Some people just never change. Some things just never change.

I know my home situation will never change until I'm 18 and can legally leave. I know I'm gonna have to deal with this for the next year.
