"Come on we got Aaliyah playing you gotta start smiling some time," I said as I was forcing Sayna to dance with me in the living room.

Today was her first day at summer camp and to say she wasn't feeling it was an understatement. The only reason her mom even got her to go is because I'm gonna be working there to be a counselor. And of course my brethren Iyanna finna be working with me. So of course Sayna's bestfriend Daniel was finna be there with her.

"Come on Sayna, I know you wanna smileeee," Her mom smiled over to us from the kitchen. She was making breaky for us.

Then on instinct she started giggling and lowly singing along to the lyrics.

"See you're gonna have fun," I said before her face dropped and she hugged me.

"I'm scared," she mumbled. That when I lightly moved her back and sat on the floor.

"Why?"

"Because I don't know everyone. And what if they mean? Or what if I don't like it?"

"But you gotta meet new people mama."

"Didn't Daniel used to be new? Now you guys are best friends. You gotta try." I said and she nodded. "And if they are ever mean to you, you know what you do?"

She shook her head at me.

"You come and get me and Ima handle it." I said and she nodded. Let any of them ever hurt Sayna and we gone have a problem.

"Sayna repeat to him the affirmations we've been saying everyyy morning." Her mom called out to us.

"Every morning, I repeat these. And you gotta do them with me." She stuck up two fists so I did the same.

"When I say it, you repeat it and we put a finger up," she explained and I nodded.
