Chapter 27

Shadow woke up three hours later to the sound of snoring in his ear with a sprawled out body against his, drool dripping on his shoulder and lastly a little fox curled up into his side covering himself with his tails.

Shadow blinked slowly his whole body feeling numb and the arm sonic laid on was asleep the tiredness in his eyes never leaving, sooo whats one more hour? Shadow closed his eyes feeling himself drift off again until..

Knock knock

Shadows eyes shot open but once the knocking stopped he figured whoever it was went away

Eye lids began to become heavy..

Dingdongdingdongdingdingsong

Sonic and tails shot up still looking tired shadow sighed and stood up letting sonic hold onto his wrist as he went to the door

Shadow swung it open revealing a white bat who only just then stopped ringing the doorbell "ooh is this a bad time~?" Rouge said looking over to sonic who was leaning his head against shadows shoulder asleep, but then over to tails who had went unnoticed he held onto sonics hand rubbing his eyes as he yawned "what do you want bat" shadow said getting to the point "what~ I can't just come over to say hi?" Rouge said flirtatiously shadow narrowed his eyes at her knowing that's obviously not the only reason she's here

But rouge completely ignored the death stare letting herself in, gracefully flying onto the couch 

shadow walked over to the bat the two other Mobians just following along, luckily the one rouge sat in was able to fit at least four Mobians but the fourth spot wasn't used since tails slept on sonics lap while sonic still rested his head on shadow's shoulder, this time he was more awake.

Shadow started to get impatient, crossing his arms shadow silently tapped his foot seeing this rouge decided to stop stalling her face becoming dead serious in seconds, now thats how shadow immediately knew something was wrong "the commander wants to talk to you" sonics hears perked up "what does that pain in the ass want to talk to me for? doesn't he know my full two weeks off isn't over yet?" Shadow responded "thats what i told him but he didn't care, he might want to send you on a mission" rouge said "tsk tell him I'm not going back yet" rouge paused not sure if she should even say what she was thinking.

Shadow glanced over to rouge her silence was already too long lasting at this point, the grip on his arm tightened out of anger "he did it again. Didn't he?" Rouge nodded "what did he say." Rouge hesitated "he said if i don't bring you back he'll decommission Omega and put you into stasis sleep again" shadows claw dug into his skin 'isn't he being too drastic' he tried calming himself running his fingers through his quills "how many times has he asked already?" "GUN had already tried contacting you through whatever they could but you never answered, the commander asked me personally about six times i just told him you were busy"

"Fuck." Shadow muttered he really had to go back to GUN this early, he hated that man, and oh how badly he was tempted to kill him

Shadow scowled in his opinion the commander was too old to be such a big pain in the ass, rouge sighed already knowing the look on the hedgehog's face all too well revealing the green chaos emerald out from nowhere shadow snatched the emerald and rouges normal tone of voice was back "calm down handsome i was just borrowing it" rouge said shadow huffed as she stood up getting ready to leave "I'm not going to force you, but please at least make a quick stop to see what he wants" is the last thing she said before showing herself to the door leaving quietly as if she were never there.

Shadow fiddled with the emerald in his hand thinking over what rouge said

Sonic lifted his head replacing the contact with his hand on a cobalt blue arm, shadow glanced towards sonic who gave him a reassuring smile shadow sighed standing up ebony hands slipping down his arm to catch his hand "so you guys have to leave now?" both hedgehogs looked at the fox "seems so." Shadow said "ok then just be careful" tails said getting off of sonic to let him get up "I'll start making the cure from now so it'll probably be nearly complete by the time you both get back" tails said "thanks little buddy" sonic said ruffling the bangs on the little kits head "we should go now" shadow said, tails looked as if he wanted to speak up but stayed quiet shadow noticed this

He gave him a look letting the fox speak "shouldn't you two at least freshen up first before you go?" Shadow and sonic finally acknowledged their coats of fur that wasn't a very presentable sight

The cobalt hero laughed at least he found this funny shadow grumbled at the sight of the dirty now gray chest fur that sonic laughed at guess thats what he found funny since he knows how much shadow takes care of it

While the two hedgehogs showered it was an awkward silence and no they did not shower together the reason it was awkward was because they took turns bathing while holding hands through the curtain which neither of them had never thought they'd be in such a situation it was too funny not to laugh at, that is for sonic though shadow just kept thinking he was crazy and stood outside the curtain waiting for the other to finish so they could get out of there.

Once sonic was all clean he turned off the water and jumped out the shower and shook like a dog purposefully getting shadow wet again "see shads" sonic said motioning to the white chest fur shadow rolled his eyes "when we get to the commanders office let me do the talking you just stand there and, look mad" shadow didn't like his own use of words but its the only one sonic would understand "just act like me" shadow revised "right!" Sonic said getting excited, they both left the restroom getting new pairs of socks and gloves

Sonic put on the rocket shoes while shadow hesitated to put on his "whats wrong shads?" Sonic looked at the shoes they were all beaten up guess they couldn't stand the amount of running shadow did, sonic thought about what to do thats when he remembered something he ran upstairs in a flash and came back a few seconds later with a new pair of his same unmistakable red shoes with a white strap and gold buckle which made shadow confused didn't Eggman still have his shoes "you didn't think i only had one pair?" Sonic said reading shadows mind "now hurry up lets go!"

Shadow slipped on the shoes and took out the chaos emerald "chaos control" shadow said and they were gone in a flash of light.
