They Said I Wasn't A Soldier

"They said I wasn't a soldier,
But watch me weild my pen.
Said I'd notice when I'm older.
Told me time and time again.

Said the others could carry stones
And I wasn't sure just how to fight.
They said I had small bones,
But hey, who cares, cause' I can write.

They said it'd make me weak.
But I'm a fighter in my head.
Said I'd have to learn to speak,
But I've learnt heaps from what I've read.

They said my talents were pathetic,
And I believed them back then.
Said I wouldn't win by being poetic,
But I sure can swing a pen.

My family might disown me,
I'm a failure, they all said.
Tragic my life would be,
If this is where it lead.

They said I'd die without a blade,
Said I'm stuck inside my head.
But you should see the world I made,
I'll use my made-up sword instead.

Said I'd lose, die in a trial,
Cause' I couldn't bear to shoot a gun.
But see, if I go with a smile,
Then, I've already won."
