"I Was So Afraid
Of the stories we heard
So I bit my tongue
Not to speak a word
But you came along
And you took my hand
Said you've got to crawl
Before you can stand
And I pulled away
As I'm scared of love
Thought you'd never stay
I'm not good enough
You spoke the truth
But I ate up lies
Said to me one day
Underneath the skies
"You're stronger than you realise."
But I'm blinded by fears
Couldn't see your heart
Through my running tears
Keeping us apart
Then you finally left
Thought we'd had enough
But before you went
You said to me, "My love."
"You're stronger than you, realise."
And now you're gone,
See, the days are dark
Thought I'd let you go
But you left a mark
And I'd never known
But you'd made me brave
So I stand in the cold
With the warmth you gave
And I'm stronger than I realised
For I survived
The world's darkest day
When you left me here
Cause' I'd pushed away
Now, from the light of dawn
Till the sight of dusk
I call out your name
pray I'm loud enough
When I cry out loud
Let the thunder pour
While I shed a tear
I let out a roar;
I'm not afraid anymore.."
