Do You Know My Greatest Fear?

"'My dear,' I said, 'My dear;
Do you know my greatest fear?'
'The flowers cease their dancing,
Birds songs I can not hear.

Stars would stop their whispering
And trees no longer sway
The very earth beneath my feet
Would have nothing left to say.'

'My dear,' she said,'My dear'
'You've got nothing to fear'
'You still can dance with me,
And my songs are always near'

' I shall never stop my whispers
I shall never stop my sway
When all the earth goes silent
I shall still have much to say'

'My dear,' I said 'My dear'
'If the earth were to go silent
I fear my ink would dry up
And what am I if not a poet?'

'My dear,' she said, 'my dear,'
'That is my greatest fear,
You would believe you're nothing more
Whilst you are still be 'My dear.'"
