After some time, we walked out of the Shie Hassaikai headquarters intact. But on our way back Shigaraki began scolding me regarding my 'friendliness' with Chisaki Kai aka Overhaul.

I shrugged, "It's best to have your enemies closer." I commented while the three of us walked back. "Or would you have preferred me to antagonize him the instant I made eye contact with him?"

"She's right Boss." Yusuke nodded, "She made the right choice. But, next time tone it down a bit, you'll sound fake."

I rolled my eyes. Shigaraki sighed, "Just don't lose sight of our objective. We gotta see what he has to offer us and not only that but I want to know more about those bullets." He suddenly paused making Yusuke and I confused. "Maybe since you're such good friends with him you can—"

I pushed Shigaraki against the nearest wall. His words ticked me off. Before I could even think, I was there holding Shigaraki firmly as I glared at him, "Watch your next words Shigaraki. He's not my friend and I won't do something... whatever your perverted mind might be thinking to get Overhaul to tell me all his secrets and whatnot."

I shoved him away and walked off leaving Yusuke and Shigaraki too stunned to speak. Or so I thought.

"I liked you before you became this way... the way you are now pisses me off." He stated without hesitation. "Personality split or not, you're not the girl who I—"

I didn't turn around but the frown on my face got deeper. "Pity. I don't care what you like or not." I sneered, "Too bad, huh. But you should know, a person doesn't always change because they want to at times, sometimes people change because they get tired of bullshit. They have to change or else they can completely lose themselves in something as dark as despair or numbness."

Shigaraki remained quiet.

"Oi [Y/N] come back here." Yusuke called out to me, "You know going on a rampage now wouldn't look good, the Yakuza jerks won't like it."

I sighed as I stopped walking. I turned to them and saw Shigaraki had no expression on his face. That sort of... irked me. I wanted to see something in his facial expression; something in his eyes telling me something, anything... but as always nothing is going to change him.

The way he is now, the way he was back then... that's the man who I fell in love with. However, I'm smarter than I am back then and in order to complete this mission I need to move on. Therefore, I smiled to push those emotions away.

Love sucks.

That's a fact. But who says I can't embrace that? What doesn't kill you makes you stronger so...

"You're right Yusuke, hm, but what to do? What to do? I need to get this nasty taste of bitterness out of my mouth." I glanced at Yusuke who looked utterly tired.

"If you promise not to cause any trouble for today I'll buy you [Favorite Food]."

"Deal!" I immediately spoke as I turned to Shigaraki saying, "You coming Boss?"

"I don't think I'll ever understand you." He sighed but nonetheless he nodded and followed us.

Maybe if we really had met in another time things for us could've really been different. But for now, those emotions don't matter. What does matter is...

'You must reach your potential, only then will you be on your way to accomplish your goal'

A few days later, who would have guessed huh? That I'd be standing here sitting in some café that most likely seemed to be run by the Yakuza, enjoying a cup of my favorite drink with the one and only Overhaul.
