I paint a smile upon my face,
A mask to hide my deep disgrace,
For though my heart is torn apart,
I play the role and play the part.My cuts they speak of hidden pain,
Of sadness that I can't explain,
But still I wear this painted grin,
And keep the darkness locked within. The world goes by without a care,
And I am lost in my despair,
A puppet dancing on a string,
But deep inside I feel the sting.I hide my face behind this guise,
And yet my sorrow never dies,
For every smile that I display,
Is just another price to pay.So if you see me walking by,
With a painted smile and hollow eyes,
Just know that I am not okay,
And that my cuts won't fade away.
