Chapter 21

Max's POV:
I felt a hand under my chin, and I slowly lifted my head up. I met El's eyes, which were full of tears. They sparkled in the moonlight, and I smiled sadly, wondering what she's gonna say.
"I love you too. In more than a friend way." My eyes widened, "I was nervous to talk to you at first. I barely knew how to talk to people in general. I always thought you were beautiful, I admired you. At the Snowball, I wanted to dance with you. But I didn't know how to ask, I thought you'd hate me after I ignored you when we first met. But when I first spoke to you, I regretted not doing it earlier. You were even cooler than I could've ever expected. You always knew what to say and what to do. We went to Starcourt, and you taught me how to be myself. How to be El, not just that one weird girl from a lab."

Now I was tearing up, god I love this girl so much.

"You helped me with Hopper. You were always there for me, no matter what the time or reason. You'd even sneak out just because I wanted to finish the Wonder Woman comic." I laughed, "I didn't know what love was. Mike just kissed me and I was automatically his girlfriend. But when I hung out with you I felt different. Sometimes I'd get nervous around you, or I'd feel weird things in my stomach. I talked to Jonathan about what I was feeling, and he said he felt the same way with Nancy. He told me it happens when you're in love. I was scared at first, I didn't even know if I'd ever see you again after I moved. But when you're with me, I'm happy. I feel the best when I'm with you than anyone else. So now I know for sure. I love you too Max. I want to be more than best friends too."

I looked deeply into her eyes, and felt myself getting lost in them. I decided I should ask her to be my girlfriend. I know she's the one I've been waiting for this whole time.

"El?" I asked, "Would you like to be my girlfriend?"
She grinned, "I'd love to." I smiled and leaned in. She did too and I felt her soft lips against mine. I smiled against her lips and put her arms around her neck. She put her hands on my waist. I moved onto her lap, deepening the kiss.

She moved her hands from my waist to my hips and I sighed contentedly against her lips as she moved slowly moved me against her lap. She lifted the bottom of my shirt up slightly, caressing the skin under it. I pulled away from the kiss, getting my breath back before quickly connecting our lips again. I licked her bottom lip, begging for entrance.

She opened her mouth slightly, and I slipped my tongue inside. I gasped as she slowly pulled my trousers down ever so slightly, running her fingers along the waistband of my pants. We made out for a few more minutes until I pulled away, needing to breathe.

El smiled and looked back up to her window. "Come on, we should get back up there."
"How?" I asked, still sitting on her lap.
"The pipe leading up there. You go first and I'll follow close behind." I nodded and gave her one more small kiss before getting up off her lap, standing up.

I walked over to the wall and put my hands on the pipe. I surprisingly had a good grip on it, and El walked over to me. "I'm gonna lift you up ok? Just put your legs around it and use the wall to help you." She advised.
I nodded, I've snuck in and out of my house many times. Well, that's when I lived with Neil and Billy. Sometimes that was the only way I could go out.

"Ready?" El asked, breaking me from my thoughts.
"Yeah." I said. I smiled as El's hands landed on my waist, and she lifted me up. I wrapped my legs around the pipe as she said, and kept a steady hold with my hands.
"Good. Now climb up to the window. I'll be behind you." She said.

I put my shoes on the wall and climbed up to the window. I opened it a bit wider before climbing inside, falling into the room. I stood up and stuck my head out the window, watching El climb up effortlessly. She climbed into the room too, but she didn't fall like me.

She gave me a smile before using her powers to bring the blankets and pillows inside. She quickly put them in her closet, and opened her door slowly. "What are you doing?" I asked quietly.
"Joyce is gonna wake up in a minute. We have to be quiet." She whispered, shutting the door.
"Wake up? What time is it?" I asked. I turned to the alarm clock on El's bedside table. 4:07.

"Oh shit!" I said a bit too loud. I quickly covered my mouth before speaking again, "How long were we out there?!" I asked.
"2 hours I think? Time went by quick." El answered.
"We might as well sleep for a bit." I said, lying down on El's bed.
"Alright." She said, getting into bed beside me.
I laid my head on her shoulder and gently kissed her cheek. "I love you." I said quietly.
"I love you too." El said. I smiled to myself and closed my eyes.
