Chapter 15

Sahiba was twisting and turning on her bed unable to sleep with nightmares haunting her. She was aware that now she is almost out in the open and everyone would know of her past. She saw the time in her phone which showed as 6:40 a.m. and she thought of it as a perfect excuse.

She got ready for her art shop and left a message to Daarji that she is leaving early for her Art shop because she has to prep for the Art festival.

Sahiba reached her art shop and started her work which busied her so much that she lost the track of time and kept doing her work patiently.

Angad got up at his usual time and called Sahiba father. When the old man picked up the phone, Angad told him that he wants to meet him to discuss something which worried Ajeet because it was the first time Angad actually spoke to him.

Ajeet agreed and Angad asked him to meet in the park near the Brar industries at 11 a.m. to which the former agreed because he too wanted to know what had happened. As discussed Angad reached the place and saw Ajeet waiting for him.

Angad greeted him politely which actually was again a shock for Ajeet but he didn't show it because after all Angad belonged to a sophisticated and respectful household. He had to be this reverent and soft since these were the values any parents wanted their children to inculcate.

Angad asked him about his past and Sahiba's behaviour towards the glamorous world and rich society to which Ajeet's eyes got wide opened.

He told Angad that Sahiba saw with him when he got arrested due to false accusations on him put by a lady he went to deliver the jewellery he designed. The jewellery fell from the lady's hands on the floor and instead of checking in her home, she presumed that Ajeet took it cheating her and registered a case against him.

Ajeet unable to prove his innocence got arrested Sahiba saw that from her own eyes. And then when the police was investigating the crime scene, they found the jewellery which was seen by the lady. Police then released Ajeet as his innocence was proven and went home but no one again hired him to work again due to the reputation which was ruined by the false case.

Ajeet told Angad how Sahiba saw that Lady never apologised for her misconduct and just walked away when he was released and after that incident the thoughts of rich people being arrogant and unapologetic got deeply rooted in her mind and she was unable to recover from that incident.

Ajeet as he told was never hired by anyone and he was subdued to run a chola-kulcha stall for living. Their happy middle-class family was now forced to become a poor family. They lost their home and now were living in their elder brother's house and after his brother passed away, they were also taking care of his late brother's wife.

Ajeet also told Angad about how Santosh and Seerat treated Sahiba and it pained Angad's heart because no one deserves to be treated like a hen who gives gold eggs. Sahiba was ignored and Seerat was given every type of attention by Santosh. She was never asked about how she is doing or even she is okay or not. Sometimes Santosh also ignored Sahiba's health which hurt the young girl but she never expressed it.

Sahiba started her art shop and from that she earned sufficient money until Seerat and Santosh decided that Seerat will enter a beauty contest.

At that point Sahiba was officially made their living bank account from where they ordered their need amount and were granted the money.

"She didn't deserve it." Angad thought.

Angad saw Ajeet's eyes getting wet due to the suffering and about Sahiba and then he saw how Ajeet folded his hands and begged for Angad to take a good care of Sahiba so that she can also get some happiness in life.

Sahiba had got matured before her age because of that incident and she always tried her best to rectify the situations. It's not her hobby to make everything right for everyone rather it's her habit which she developed in the years handling everything in her household.

Angad felt guilty because he had everything which he earned due to his hard work but he never had to face these kind of situations in life.

He could never even imagine being ignored by Manveer because she is his rock. Yes his dad was a little distant because of the disputes between him and his mother but both of them tried their best to be with Angad when they needed him.

"Angad puttar, my Sahiba is one of the best behaved child and she is dearest to me. But when she sees anyone disrespecting her family or her profession she retaliates. I know both of you have a bitter relation due to Seerat's mother and her web of lies but Sahiba is innocent. Sahiba always told her mother to not lie to you all but how much can a child influence their mom?" Ajeet said.

Angad sighed.

Ajeet continued, "Sahiba craves for a family that loves and adores her. She craves for someone's care for her but she will never say anything and keep quiet with her emotions buried inside her heart. Whenever she sees anyone like you demeaning people like us, this incident plays in her mind and she loses control, she cries and screams at the person fighting them for the justice. She is not a bad person and neither are you my child but it's just the situations."

Angad was now more confused. He got to know that Sahiba Kaur Monga was more complex that he thought but one thing he concluded from the whole scenario was that Sahiba is not a fraud or a cheat but rather she is cheated and used by the people she thought were her family.
