Rose's Point of View
"Have you met the new transferred student from outta town?" Lissa asked, her jade green eyes glancing at me as we made our way through the student-crowded hall. I shook my head. It was not often that we get a new transferred student.
"No, have you?" I asked. Obliviously, Lissa would have met the newbie already. She was part of the 'Meet & Greet' group for our school. She knew who was in or out.
Lissa rolled her eyes and said, "Duh! Of course I have! Her name is Sydney Katherine Sage. She has been home schooled her whole life. She's the American copy of Cady Heron from Mean Girls. Innocent and naive. Blonde hair and amber eyes. I'm sure Elsie is going to transform her into one of her faithful cronies." I shuddered at the thought of Elsie changing the innocent girl into a Barbie doll.
As we walked, Lissa pointed her finger at someone. I followed her gaze and it landed on a cute girl who looked around 16 or 17. Like Lissa's accurate description, she looked innocent and naive. Obliviously, unaware of the high school Queen Bee. She was fumbling with her locker's lock. Elsie, who stood not very far from Sydney eyed her as if she was a new doll for her to give a makeover. Lissa pulled me towards Sydney.
She looked at Lissa. Relief flashed in her eyes when she saw Lissa. "Lissa! Hi," Sydney said, smiling.
Lissa smiled and said, "Hi Sydney. This is my best friend Rose Hathaway. Rose, this is our newly transferred student Sydney Sage." I gave Sydney a smile and said, "Hi, are you having some problems with your locker?"
She blushed red and said, "Kind of. I don't really know how to use these." I helped her and she thanked me gratefully. Sydney put all of her books into her locker. She was clumsy, shy, and completely an introvert. Lissa and I waited for her to organize her things into her locker. I noticed that she would glance across the hall very often. I looked across the hall and saw Adrian Ivashkov watching her.
