"This isn't first grade where everybody says their name and their favorite fucking color, Hawks," Dabi spoke sourly.

"Hey, it's not my fault I never went to first grade and did all that shit," the blond replied throwing his hands up in defense.

Hawks caught a glimpse of the dark-haired villain's face whose eyes were slightly wider than normal and eyebrows slightly furrowed. "Oh, yeah. I never went to school!" Hawks revealed enthusiastically.

Dabi quirked one of his eyebrows as if to ask for the blond to elaborate. The blond, however, took advantage of the situation.

"I'll tell you so long as you tell me the reason you became a villain," Hawks negotiated. The dark-haired villain rolled his eyes in response and continued to focus on the blond. Hawks interpreted this as an inaudible agreement.

"I wasn't in the most loving household seeing as my father was a wanted murderer and my mother was manipulated into using her quirk to shield my father from the cops. I know I wasn't born because my parents loved each other but..." Hawks momentarily paused, watching his fingers fumble with one another. "I became a hero without them so who cares if they loved each other or not," the blond awkwardly finished with a sheepish grin.

"Anyways, my father was paranoid my mother and I would sell him out so he didn't allow us to leave the house; that's why I never attended school. Fortunately, we had a TV so I spent my isolated time watching heroes on the news channel. One hero in particular, however, gave me hope that perhaps one day I too could become a hero," Hawks explained passionately.

"Eventually my father was caught and charged with his crime. My mother, however, lived in constant fear that she would be caught and charged for housing my criminal father. So, we fled."

"Now with my father gone and my mother too paranoid to get a job, we were broke. Every day my mother would send me out to do something... anything to get money. I knew the best thing I could do at the time was help people using my wings. I would carry heavy grocery bags, save cats from trees, and all of the small stuff."

"I enjoyed helping people so much that I found myself forgetting to beg for money as my mother had taught me. Then, one day the Hero Public Safety Commission approached my mother offering her complete freedom in exchange for her child. Because my mother saw my quirk as useless and without potential, she laughed at the offer and immediately agreed. From thereon out, the Public Hero Safety Commission raised and trained me to become a hero."

Hawks finally lifted his head to observe the dark-haired villain's reaction. What the hero did not expect to find was an intently listening Dabi. "Some feedback would be nice," Hawks let out awkwardly.

The dark-haired villain adverted his eyes away quickly as if someone had caught him staring. "Why do you care about my reason for becoming a villain?" Dabi asked. "It's not like it'll change anything."

"Well," Hawks began. "I'm just curious is all." The red-winged hero knew his words sounded like lies bleeding through his teeth but, he genuinely wanted to know.

Dabi let out a shaky breath. At first, the dark-haired villain hesitated to open his mouth and let the words flow through. Though, after a few moments of silence, he spoke.

"I'm just a product of a quirk marriage." Hawks seemed to perk up slightly at the villain's willingness to open up. "My dad wanted me to surpass AllMight but, I didn't inherit the resistance part of my quirk so when I trained, my quirk would hurt me. Nevertheless, my father pushed me every day until my brother was born." Dabi paused, seemingly struggling to continue. Although he tried to hide the emotional damage that had been done, he attempted to power through the next few lines.

"He left me stranded and switched all of his attention on him. After all that pain and suffering I wanted to prove I was still worth my father's ambitions but, when I tried to do so, I ended up burning half of my skin off with my quirk. Most people, including my family, believed I died but, here I am."

Dabi let out another shaky breath as he stared holes into the hero's comforter. Although Hawks was unsure if the dark-haired villain would share such private information, he was well satisfied with what he got.

"I guess we have more in common than I thought," the red-winged hero said with a soft tone. "I mean, your dad sounds a bit-" Hawks paused, searching for the right word. "single-minded?" That was most definitely not the word he was going for but the blond continued. "Good thing they believe you're dead?" Hawks said with a questioning tone, weary of if his words were appropriate or not. Maybe he just shouldn't have said anything.

Dabi simply hummed back at the hero and continued to stare at the comforter crumpled on top of the bed. Hawks pursed his lips unsure of where the conversation was headed.

Despite the tension between the two males ending with them listening to each other's upbringings, Hawks was thankful to have learned more about the villain. He still had to worry about his mission being exposed but, he'd ponder on that later when Dabi wasn't straddling his hips. Nevertheless, he felts that even though Dabi was aware of the blond's mission, their relationship wouldn't end there. In some odd way, Hawks was delighted about that.

Wait, what would he say at his next meeting with the Public Hero Safety Commission? Shit... maybe Hawks would need to deal with this while Dabi was straddling his hips after all.
