Thanksgiving was enjoyable but now over and Hawks was expected to return to his heroic duties. This, of course, included the requested meeting written in the letter that Hawks left sitting on top of his desk. The meeting was requested by none other than the head executive of the Hero Public Safety Commission.
Upon entering the door to the women's office, he was greeted with an emotionless greeting urging him to sit down in one of the two seats placed before her desk. Hawks denied the other's offer opting to stand instead.
As per usual, the woman sat back in her chair, ominously lurking behind her desk as she prodded the hero for information. "It's been a while, Hawks. What information do you bring to me today."
"I've been making steady progress-" Hawks attempted to say confidently until he noticed the other's reaction.
The woman's face swelled with disappointment as if her own child disobeyed her command. "We haven't got all year for this, Hawks. I need results and I need them now. I've given you more than enough time to get me those results and here I sit with nothing!" she voiced as she emphasized the last word.
Maybe if you'd let me finish...
"In fact, I might try to assign another one of our heroes instead since you seem so unsuitable to complete the mission-" the woman tried to threaten.
"No! I've made enough progress to prove useful and you aren't going to be able to do this mission twice otherwise the League of Villains will start to get even more suspicious than they already are," the blond tried to point out as he clenched his fist in frustration.
"Well, we'd have a better chance at doing that than continuing with whatever you're doing now!" the woman loudly refuted as she leaned forward towards her desk. Realizing her slight outburst, she dialed back and rested against the back of her chair. "I apologize," she cleared her throat, "I've just had several reports come in saying they spotted you with the purple guy, Dabi, was it? And you know how difficult it is to keep the press from reporting on something that pertinent."
What...? Who-
"My point is, we don't have forever, Hawks. Our time with this mission is limited and you either get me the most information you can or you don't."
"Y-yes ma'am," was all the blond could choke out. The rest of the meeting was a blur and eventually, the woman dismissed him from her office.
Even after the doors leading to her office shut, Hawks's mind was scrambled. Who could've seen them? Hawks had taken extra precautions so that this exact thing wouldn't happen! Whether it was a civilian or another villain, whoever it was, was going to ruin the mission... and his relationship with Dabi.
Fuck. It was only then did the hero remembered the amount of information he could've spilled about the villain and yet, not once did it cross his mind to do such an act!
Perhaps Hawks was unsuited for the mission after all as he had seemingly grown fond of the dark-haired male. But, what was stronger, his feelings for the villain or his feelings for the Hero Public Safety Commission? The latter hadn't done so much as to handsomely reward his efforts whether successful or not; the head executive was also a complete war hog too.
"Looks like our little hero has entered his rebellion faze," a sly seductive voice spoke not too far from the blond's ear. "Your face shows it" the voice leaned in closer.
The hero instinctively jumped away and turned to meet face-to-face with a dark-haired villain dressed in similarly dark attire. When Hawks processed who it was that stood before him, he flicked his head around the room, grabbed the villain's wrist, and hauled both males to and through a random door. The room they now stood in a room that was small due to the towering shelves surrounding the cramped space; it was so cramped that the two were practically touching chests. The hero hadn't noticed this as he was more concerned with Dabi's sudden appearance inside a hero-ran facility building. When Hawks looked back to the male who adorned a blank expression, he saved no time laying into him using his words.
