Vera and I were all packed and ready for the battle. Her hair was tied back into several braids that tied together to make a Viking-like ponytail. Her skin was as pale as ever but still had a glow to it. She had on her pants and white shirt. Our matching waist and wrist wraps. She had a cloak on, concealing her bow and arrows. She had a sword around her waist and a dagger on her thigh just in case someone got close.

We got on our horses, both of us having a totem of undying tucked into our waistbands. The others met us at the river, just across the bridge.

"You're letting Verena come too? Didn't think you'd let her out of your chambers during the war." Phil chuckled, patting my back.

"I had to beg." Vera laughed, pulling her hood over her head. "Let's go."

We rode off, towards L'Manburg. Dream was already there, already setting up the first plan of attack. I left Vera at her station, at the top of one of the towers. Her hood covered her perfectly, only a few strands of her hair falling out of it. Dream started the attack, TNT dropping onto the ground, blowing up parts of the land. Vera was just out of the firing zone, hopefully, she would stay that way.

I officially started the war by sending my dogs to attack. I raised my sword, the cue for Vera. An arrow zipped straight past my head, hitting George directly in his shoulder.

A few more arrows zipped by while I fought. TNT exploded on every side of me, barely missing me every time.

An arrow zipped past, landing in the dirt. The first shot she'd missed. I turned around and looked up at her, seeing a knife at her throat.

In a quick move, her hand was on his neck and he was hanging off the tower. She stabbed him in the head with her dagger and let go, his limp body falling.

She disappeared as I went back to what I was doing.

Minutes passed with no arrows, just explosions.

"Oh, aren't you a sight for sore eyes darling." I heard Wilbur talking behind me.

I turned around, my sword ready. Vera stood there with her sword drawn and her bow broken at her feet. She had a cut over her eyelid.

"Techno, put the sword away or she dies." Wilbur smirked over his shoulder at me, tapping her sword with his and causing it to fall from her hand. She fell to her knees. I could see the broken arrow in the back of her hip now, her shirt bloody around it. Her cloak had been burned up to her waist, leaving nothing left on the bottom.

"Wil, kill me instead."

"No! No! You can't! I'll be okay." She pulled the small bit of the cloak that was still there back, showing me the tip of the totem in her waistband.

"I can't lose you." I spoke softly, convincing Wilbur I would sacrifice myself. "I'm sorry Verena, but I can't abandon the kingdom either. Do it, Wilbur."

The sword was drove directly into her heart, the life leaving her eyes just seconds later. Wilbur pulled the sword back out and followed up with a stab to her gut. As he pulled the sword back, her body fell forwards. She didn't sit up or anything. She wasn't dead yet. The totem works immediately.

I thrusted my sword into Wilbur's back. I pulled it out and he turned around, blood pouring from the front and back of him. As he fell, his wounds glowed with a golden-green color. He stood up immediately, fully recovered. He swung his sword at my neck, barely missing.

I ducked under his arm and stomped on Vera's head, the glow immediately coming.

Vera sat up, her hair falling in front of her face. I kicked the back of Wilbur's knee, sending him falling forward.

Vera stood and lunged forward, her sword going straight into Wilbur's head as he fell. He pulled the sword back and it was covered in blood.

The world went silent. All the cuts on her body were glowing faintly, healed by magic. She stood tall, despite her height.

I couldn't stop myself from moving. Why did I choose now? With bombs falling from the sky and corpses lying around, scattered and covered in blood.

There I was. On one knee, ring in my hand. "Vera," I didn't even know what I was saying, "I love you so so much. You are the true gem in my life. Hell, you're a damn diamond. I would want nothing more than eternity with you. Will you marry me, Vera?"

She held her hand out, nodding uncontrollably with tears falling down her face. The glowing finally stopped. I slid the ring on her finger and pulled her down into my arms. Even with the horror around us, this was the perfect moment. I couldn't think of something better.

She stood up, "Let's end this and go get fucking married."

Hot. That was hot.

The war had stopped. No one moved after the proposal. They gave up, surrendering. No one dared to ruin my engagement. The TNT continued to fall around us, the debris flying around as I pulled her close to me, our lips locking.
