Echo-4 Origin: The Aftermath

Echo came down the stairs as fast as he could and as soon as he was through the door Isabel quickly appeared to seal it back up, Echo turned to see Iris laying on floor still unconscious with Alderam sitting beside her. Her foot was barely connected to her leg not to mention the foot itself was crushed as well as her shin.

Isabel finished sealing the door and immediately floated over to Echo and got in his face, "I told you this was a bad idea! We should've never messed with the hive!"

Echo didn't say a word.

"You almost died Echo! Iris almost died! You promised you wouldn't let them get hurt and now look at them!"

Echo continued to stay quiet while Isabel shouted at him, Alderam was blocking out the yelling still staring at Iris hoping she would wake up. Suddenly her ghost appeared over her, startling Alderam a bit and stopping Isabel's scolding of Echo.

It quietly flew over to her leg and scanned it, "Oh wow this is bad." It mumbled to itself.

"Can you heal her?" Alderam asked.

"Yes I-I can." The Ghost began to glow brightly and shined a beam of light over Iris's leg and healed it, quickly disappearing once it did. Although Iris was still unconscious.

Echo let out a sign of relief and walked over to Iris kneeling down and gently picking her up, "let's just get out of here." Echo said exhausted starting to walk out of the room.

Isabel let out a sigh herself floating over to him and disappearing, While Alderam got up following Echo out.

The hunters slowly made their way out of the Lunar Complex walking past the dead fallen and back down the old road. Echo's ship came down from the clouds settling over the old plane once more. They all transmitted inside, Echo carefully placed Iris into a bed built into the wall of the ship. While Alderam sat in a seat and strapped himself in across form Iris.

Echo made his way into the cockpit of the ship taking back control of it, it slowly rose further into the sky and then took off back towards the last city.

Echo called Cayde over coms as they flew back home, "Hey Echo! I was waiting to hear back from you, how'd the scouting mission go?"

"Not good, my fireteam was ambushed by a small hive horde led by a knight identified as the Hand of Crota."

"Wait did you say Crota?" Cayde asked concerned.

"Yes, I'm sending the recording my ghost got now."

"Alright, make sure you guys get back safe. I'll look over your recording as soon as I can." Cayde said with urgency ending the call.

A few hours later Cayde walked into the Hall of Guardians in the tower meeting up with the other Vanguard members Commander Zavala and Ikora Rey.

"I'm going to need everyone to clear the room! Sorry guys official Vanguard business!" Cayde said raising his voice walking over to his usual spot around the table.

When the room was clear Zavala was the first to speak, "Cayde what is the meaning of this?"

"Yes I would quite like to know as well, this is unusual of you." Ikora chimed in.

"Sundance can you play the recording?" Cayde asked his ghost. Sundance projected the video Echo had sent, showing Echo getting ambushed. Hive thrall began to surround him and he started firing his Last Word. Echo was doing everything in his power using every knife, bullet, and grenade he had. Even with all the commotion a thrall managed to tackle him to the ground and screamed in his face, Echo stabbed it and kicked it off himself. When he got up another thrall tried to do the same but Echo dodged it and grabbed its arm, he broke it and threw it back into the horde of thrall. Echo killed waves of cursed and normal thrall, as well as a few acolytes that had come from further in the complex. Then the Hand of Crota appeared and charged at Echo, "Pause it there. Does that name sound familiar to anyone?"

"Crota...When was this?" Zavala asked.

"Today, one of my hunters encountered this in the cosmodrome inside that old Lunar Complex leading into the Skywatch."

"If Crota legions have made their way to Earth I fear that we may have another war on the horizon." Zavala said.

"What happened to the knight? Was your hunter able to kill it?" Ikora asked.

"No, but he was able to cripple it before his fireteam escaped." Cayde answered.

Zavala sighed, "As if the fallen weren't enough already. Keeps tabs on this situation if there are any more sightings of this Hand of Crota we will need to act quickly, we cannot risk another great disaster."

"Yes I suggest we keep this incident quiet for now, I'll make sure to watch for any further developments for now and make sure to let the Speaker know of this situation." Ikora said.

Iris opened her eyes looking up at the ceiling in her room, she slowly turned her head and looked around confused not knowing where she was before realizing she was in her room at the tower. She glanced over to see Alderam asleep on a chair, it seemed like he was watching over her in her sleep, she wondered why he was there trying to remember what happened. Then the memories came surging back into her head like waves crashing down on her as she recalled the traumatic events, she ripped the covers of her bed off of her revealing her legs. She was confused again, she could've sworn the knight had crushed her foot but both of them were completely fine. Echo walked into the room suddenly causing Iris to jump a bit and in turn startled Echo, not knowing she had awoken.

"Echo?....What are you doing here?" Iris asked she was still a little shaken up after remembering everything.

Isabel appeared and flew over to her, "Iris! You're okay! I was so worried about you!" Isabel said practically giving her a hug, well the best hug a ghost could try and give anyway.

Iris was confused once more but didn't mind the affection one bit. Echo chuckled, getting a little emotional himself, "We're just glad you're alright."
