Echo caught Iris's and Alderam's fists and pushed them both to the ground," look guys, if you're ever going to survive out here you need to know how to fight." Echo had brought the two new hunters down to the cosmodrome to give them some real world experience, although at the moment he seemed to be just beating them up.
Iris got up from the ground," Hey it's not fair that you're fighting us Echo!"
"And you think a two on one is?" Echo said.
Iris crossed her arms and pouted, Alderam slowly got up and said," I-I think she means maybe we should fight each other instead of you Echo."
Echo thought for a moment," Yeah I guess you're right, go ahead and start sparring with each other and try to replicate the moves I've been using on you two."
Both of the young hunters nodded their heads and quickly got into fighting stances and began to spar against each other while Echo went over near his ship and sat down as the sun began to set. He had started to take a liking to them, enjoying their company and being proud at how far they've come in a short amount of time.
5 Days had passed since Echo had met his students. During those five days Echo had taken them to shooting ranges to get used to their new guns, brought them on patrols with him against the fallen, and had even spared with them on occasion to get them used to hand to hand combat. As the night settled in on their sixth day of training Echo decided to take them into the city to celebrate how much progress they were making. During their five days of training Echo was hard on them especially during sparring. Even though hunters are known to be a type of stealth class Echo didn't hold back on them. Echo himself went through training in martial arts in case he ever got himself into real trouble where he didn't have the luxury of Stealth or a gun. Echo was determined to pass this onto them so they would be ready for anything, and they had learned impressively quickly. As they went down into the city the two hunters were mesmerized. The city was glimmering with lights all over, music played throughout the streets as they walked through. People were laughing, singing, dancing, and shopping. Iris and Alderam were simply amazed at how alive it was. Echo smiled remembering the first time he saw the city. He walked them over to his favorite ramen joint to have a meal.
"C'mon you two, foods on me," Echo said
"Thanks Echo!" Iris said running over to him.
"Yeah th-thank you Echo!" Alderam said.
The night ended with smiles and faces full of ramen. Echo took the two back to the tower to get some rest in their quarters, Echo went back down to the city, and walked to his house to get some shut eye.
"I really like them," Isabel said.
"Yeah, I do too," Echo said opening the door to his apartment. He walked past maps he had set up on a table and turned on the TV to let Isabel watch it for the night, because she doesn't sleep, and walked into his room. He changed into some more comfortable clothes and went to sleep.
As the sun rose the next morning it was straight to training for Alderam and Iris. Echo had taken them back out to the cosmodrome to teach them how to better handle their light. But before he was able to do that, he had to show them how to actually use it. Alderam and Iris were both starting to show signs of their grenade and melee abilities, but both of them have yet to actually cast a super yet. As night fell after a day of meditation training to strengthen their connection to the light, Echo walked over to get their attention.
"Alright you two listen up!" Echo yelled.
Both hunters quickly got to attention and waited for him to speak again.
"Okay guys now I will be teaching you how to cast a super and make better use of your light," Echo said.
"A super?" Iris asked.
"Yes, a super." Echo walked over to a clearing and faced away from them, "here, I'll show you."
Echo pulled out his golden hand cannon spinning it in his hand as it left its holster. Echos body began to glow orange as he quickly lifted his hand cannon into the air, then suddenly, accompanied by a loud popping noise, it bursted into flames igniting the rest of his body too. Alderam and Iris stood speechless, Echo fired three golden flaming shots into the distance lighting up the area around them. Then, just as quickly as they came, the flames left Echos body. And slowly put his hand cannon back into its holster.
"W-We can do something like that?!" Iris said shocked.
"You sure can!" Echo replied. "But before we really get into training I need to see what subclass you both are, so I'll need you two to throw your grenades down."
Without a second thought Iris yelled, "Yes sir!" Throwing her grenade at a rock nearby. Her grenade happend to be a arc skip grenade reviling that she was the subclass know as a blade dancer.
Next up was Alderam of course. He threw his grenade and it was the same as Echo's, a solar scatter grenade. Making him a Gunslinger just like Echo.
With that out of the way Echo went over to Iris and handed her his knife. "This should make things a little easier."
"Okay now Alderam I'm going to need you to take a few steps back. I don't want you being electrocuted," Echo joked.
"Y-Yes sir," Alderam said as he backed up.
"Alright Iris, I need you to focus your light into that knife. Try not to think of anything else but that okay?" Echo said.
"Okay!" Iris began to concentrate on her light and closed her eyes. Her body started to flicker with blue electricity as arc energy flowed over her. Then without warning, she exploded with arc light all around her body. The knife she held in her hand was now glowing blue with bolts of electricity all over it.
"Oh my god this is so cool!" Iris said admiring herself.
"We'll be able to get a field test with your super later, but for now I'm going to need you to power down," Echo said.
"Alright," Iris closed her eyes again and released the power around her. The electricity faded away as the knife she held turned back to normal.
Alderam stood by speechless once more, knowing full well it was his turn to cast a super next.
