Chapter 17 - Expedition: Decoy

"Seriously, just why did you have to stay behind...?" Glynne muttered while observing the upcoming horde of honkai beast on top of a building.

"Do I have to repeat myself?" Kiana asked while raising one of her brows.

"No, I was only wondering by myself." Glynne replied in a defeated tone as really can't explain the current dilemma he's experiencing inside his head.

With Kiana present, he needed to create a new kind of plan. The previous one he had was something he could only do by himself. So when Kiana force herself to join him, he's been racking his brains on what to do.

For now, they have to think of a way to get all the attention of the Honkai beast in the area in order for the others to escape undetected.

Rummaging through his satchels, he brought out a hand grenade and two smoke grenades.

"Not enough..." Glynne muttered, he needed a bigger firepower in order to execute the plan he was currently considering. "Hey, you have any explosives on you?"

"I have this." Kiana said while showing her specialized black hole grenades. Glynne shook his head as he goes back into thinking.

As they were running out of time, Glynne quickly scanned the surrounding area. He then paused when he spotted some rubbles.

"H-hey, don't you think it's about time we make a move?" Kiana asked with a bit of flustered voice.

"Yeah" Glynne replied as he summoned some sort of a mini-map by his side and immediately got down the building using the emergency stairs.

"W-w-wha— Wait for me!" Kiana, who got taken back by Glynne sudden action, shouted and immediately followed the boy.

The two run through the alleyways as the white-haired girl seemed to be confused about what the boy was doing. He said they going to become a decoy for the Honkai beast to follow but his action does not quite display it.

After running for a while, Kiana widened her eyes as a Dormant Honkai beast popped underneath Glynne.

"Look out!" Kiana shouted but her concerns weren't needed as Glynne successfully dodged the monster's attack.

Kiana was about to shoot it when she got interrupted by Glynne. "Just ignore it and run!"

Kiana was confused of his order but nonetheless, followed it as the two continued running

When the Dormant Honkai beast was out of sight, Kiana asked the boy ahead of her. "Hey, what was that about?"

"Just wait" Glynne replied. When Kiana was about to ask further, a loud roar interrupted her as she can't help but cover her ears.

"W-what was that?!" Kiana asked while shaking her head due to getting disoriented by the roar.

"When you run away from a Dormant Honkai beast after waking it up, it will release a loud roar to call for others." Glynne explained as Kiana couldn't help but widen her eyes.

"They do that?" Naturally, Kiana questioned it as she recalled her encounters about the particular Honkai beast.

Now that she thought about it, it was natural that she wouldn't know. Whenever a Dormant Honkai beast appear, they would always get subjugated quickly due to their fragility.

As Kiana was in her thoughts, another Dormant Honkai beast pops up near Glynne, interrupting the girl. Just like last time, Glynne were able to dodge in time as the two continued on running.

After a few seconds, they manage to run into another one once again.

And another...

And again...
