The pups and Ryder sat in the stands and after a few minutes the lights went out and a presenter started talking.

"Hello, fans of Pup Pup Boogie, and welcome to the first day of the qualifying of the Pacific Region. The city of Sacramento is glad to host this event." The presenter said.

While the presenter was speaking, the first two teams began to set up in their areas and began to warm up their athletes.

"Here in Sacramento, we have 20 contestants from the states of Alaska, Hawaii, Oregon, Washington, and our state, California." The presenter said. "And now let's give a big round of applause to the first participants who will compete. On the side of the state of Oregon, we have Bea, who will challenge Milo, from the state of Alaska!"

The lights turned on and revealed the two challengers who were next to the leaders of their teams, and they made a bow to thank the crowd for their support.

"Before we begin, let me explain how the challenges of today and tomorrow will work." A second presentator called Philip said.

"Today and tomorrow each team will field two athletes who will have to challenge another two athletes, this must happen for two rounds. At the end of each day, the five players who have accumulated the highest number of points will win access to the final stage of qualifying."

When the presenter finished his explanation the matches began, participants confronted their team and then positioned themselves on the game platforms. Then the big screen in front of them lit up and they started playing.

Each game was divided into two different rounds, and only at the end, you could know the result. In these challenges it doesn't matter who won, it only matters to score as many points as possible as one wrong move could compromise the entire game for a generic competitor.

Ryder and the pups watched the whole game and were amazed by the skill and preparation of those two dogs, they could see innovative dance moves that gassed the crowd.

After seeing the amazing moves of the athletes the match ends. The two participants tightened their paws in a sign of mutual respect and together with their coaches watched the result appear on the big screen.

The victory went to Bea of the state of Oregon. With great happiness, Bea celebrated but also confronted his opponent wishing him the best in the next challenge.

"Congratulations to Bea for having won this first match. Soon Buck, from the state of Hawaii, and Illy, from the state of Washington will compete." Philip said.

Meanwhile, in the California Team room, Claire was discussing with her athletes the tactics to be adopted during the challenge.

"So, in the third match, I will line up Polly, to test the ground, instead in the last match of the first group I will field Zuma. Remember, do your best and score as many points as you can."

"Yes Hester, but I want to win all the two matches because the defeat is not acceptable," Polly said convinced and ready to go out on the field to destroy his opponent by dance shots.

"Woah Polly, you are aggressive today," Byron said amazed.

"Yes, I'm always ready for a match. It's in my spirit." She replied.

"And you, Zuma, are you ready?" Claire asked.

"Yes, I'm ready to compete and maybe win. But I always play for fun." Zuma said calmly.

"Okay, Zuma, but remember that this is not a normal match, if you score a few points you risk not entering the final phase of the qualifiers, and I would be very sorry because I know you have potential."
