Once we arrived to the Sumerian Records building in the middle of Los Angeles, the boys were clearly excited to discuss their plans for the future with the band. I got to see the kind receptionist of the building, Sadie, again and hugged her tightly as she congratulated me and Rem on our engagement. She's always been one of the biggest supporters of our relationship since she met me and Rem and saw how much we loved each other regardless of distance or status. So to see her so excited for both of us was endearing to witness as it seemed like she might float off the ground from being so happy. After her giddy episode, she asked if I was planning to work on some new music soon since she's loved every song I've sold to other artists. I teased her saying, "Maybe...", which made her smile and then she asked, "I don't mean to sound invasive or anything, but...have you ever thought about singing your own songs yourself?" Her question caught my attention and I pondered an answer, but was unable to give one as soon as the band's manager and mine, Wallace, came in to lead us to his office where we could talk.
As soon as we were settled in Wallace's office and the boys began discussing their plans for the near future, he was both intrigued and excited about their ideas and promised he'd do all he could to press these ideas into the head of the label's mind so they could get started as soon as possible. The boys expressed their gratitude to Wallace for always being so attentive and supportive, and then it was my turn to talk with him. I was a little nervous wondering what he might say, then Remington held my hand securely and it helped me to feel a little better. Basically, Wallace stated that my songs and lyrics were incredibly successful for being honest and genuine. I knew that much was true already, but was intrigued when he recommended that I should sing a few of my own songs. He explained it would make me seem more real as a songwriter and a person who feels the lyrics they're personally writing. I wasn't so keen on the idea since, unlike Remington, I've got intense stage fright and couldn't do much in public all by myself. But I promised Wallace I'd try my best when I'm ready.
That response was good enough for him as he discussed the next order of business with Palaye Royale regarding a special song collaboration with a sister label. When the boys asked, Wallace revealed the special guest to be the rock group, ELYSIAN, who've been popular in the rock n' roll genre for some time, even before I met Palaye Royale. We were all excited for Palaye Royale to have Remington be featured as a guest vocalist on their ELYSIAN's song. I've personally been a fan for a long time, but have never seen or heard the group in person. I wondered if they understood and were impressed with how big Palaye have gotten to ask them to be featured on a song. Wallace explained that in a few days, the group would be arriving to L.A. from New York and stay for as long as it takes to record the song with Remington and release it for everyone to listen to on the radio and as a single. Once the meeting was over, we all thanked Wallace for his time and support as always and he thanked us back, stating that he's excited to see big things happening for all of us.
We left the building soon after, and to celebrate big things that were coming, we decided to hang out at the bar at a hotel and get some drinks. We gave toasts and shared wishes of dreams coming true as we kept ourselves in a festive mood. I might've had too much to drink as I began stumbling around everywhere and Remington had to carry me back up to a hotel suite he checked in for both of us. As he brought us into our room and laid me down on the bed, he asked in concern, "Are you sure you're okay, Carina? You haven't been this drunk since that night you basically confessed your feelings to me." I laughed and answered with a rather slurred tone, "At least I knew this time I was consuming alcohol and I chose to be drunk. It's okay, Rem, I'll just have to suffer my consequences in the morning. Go back with your band and celebrate your success as the most popular rock band in the world!" I barely knew what I was saying anymore, but was sober enough to hear Rem giggle at my words then respond with, "It's not worth celebrating good times in my life if you're not there with me, my lovely angel."
Although I was drunk, his words left me deeply flustered and I was a blushing mess. He knew his effect was working on me as he gazed at my figure and I ended up pulling him closer to me to crash my lips on his. He kissed back for a minute before pulling away to look into my eyes and ask, "Are you sure about this, my love? I don't take advantage of girls who are too drunk to spell their own names." I giggled as I went ahead to tease him and spelled out,
"C-A-R-I-N-A...S-C-A-R-L-E-T...L-E-I-T-H W-I-S-T-E-R-I-A"
He had a look of confusion when I spelled out the last groups of letters and so I clarified as I leaned my mouth close to his ear and whispered, "My legal name after I marry you and become your wife for as long as we both live, my sweetness." I could feel his body shudder at my voice in his ear before he leaned his lips closer to my neck and attacked it with soft kisses that left me breathless. I may have been somewhat too drunk to remember what I said, but I was sober enough to remember every touch and feel of Rem's love all throughout that night.
