Chapter 9

Remington's POV

My beloved fiancée woke up a little later than I did while I was getting ready to leave with my brothers to meet ELYSIAN who'd be arriving at the studio today. Carina believed she wasn't too drunk when she tried to seduce me last night, but not even five minutes after we began kissing passionately, she fell unconscious and since I didn't want to leave her alone, I rested beside her until I fell asleep with her in my arms. When I woke up this morning, Carina was still asleep as her body was clinging onto mine in our bed. It broke my heart ot have to tear myself away from her grasp, but I promised myself I'd make it up to her when I came back and she was in a better state. As I was tying my shoes, I heard Carina groaning in discomfort after sitting up on the bed. My sweetness must be hungover and I felt bad I wouldn't be able to take care of her this morning. I turned to face her and find that she was trying to soothe herself as she seemed to be tired and nauseous. I asked her in a quiet tone as to not bother her too much, "Are you alright, my angel?"

She looked up to meet my eyes and my suspicions were confirmed as her eyes looked so weary and she shook her head before answering, "I don't know what made me think having a few more drinks would leave me without any regrets." As she ran a hand through her hair, she looked like she remembered something and asked with a blush across her face, "Did I...fall asleep as we were about to...?" I chuckled and reached my hand toward her face to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear and reassure her, "It's nothing to be embarrassed about, ma chérie. I was still here to make sure you'd be okay and I managed to have a happy night just being by your side." She seemed touched by my words and gave me a small smile before returning to try to get rid of her hangover. "Ugh, I feel so gross", she complained, "I don't think I'll be able to go with you to meet ELYSIAN, Rem. I'm a bit disappointed because I was so excited to see them for the first time ever."

I smiled seeing her try to apologize for something she can't control at the moment. But I understood her frustration if I was in her shoes. No one has met any members of this rock group since they chose to remain anonymous, refusing to do TV interviews and take public pictures. I took her hand in mine and promised her, "We'll be working with the group for a while, so you'll get a chance to meet them, my sweetness. Don't be so hard on yourself. In the meantime, while I'm out, you should order room service and put it on my tab so you can take care of yourself. Once I'm done for the day, I'll be your personal teddy bear and you can hold me as much as you want until you feel better." While she was still experienced much discomfort, she managed to give me a genuine smile before replying with, "I appreciate you still looking out for me even when you can't be here. I hope things go well between your band and ELYSIAN."

Grinning at her loving response, I leaned in to kiss her gently on her lips and then on her forehead, reminding her to take it easy as she takes the morning to recover from her hangover. She nods and blows me a kiss from across the room as I'm stepping out the door and once I'm through it, I thank God I found my perfect fiancée in a woman like Carina. I met up with my brothers and the rest of the band in the hotel lobby before we made our way to the label where we expected to see ELYSIAN already getting ready to meet us in the studio. Entering the building, we're greeted by Sadie as she waves at all of us and greets us with a "Good morning!" in such a positive manner. She's such a sweet girl, I wouldn't be surprised if Carina made her a bridesmaid at our wedding. Oh shit, just thinking about our wedding takes me away from what we're doing here as I fantasize my lovely bride walking down the aisle in the most gorgeous dress and smiling back at me as she walks closer to the end of the aisle where I take her hands in mine and-

"REM!", I'm broken out of my daydream when Emerson yells at me, "Wake the fuck up! Our manager is waiting in his office, let's go already!" I shake my head and nod before following the group to the elevator, where it silent in there and I feel slightly embarrassed that I let a daydream of me and Carina getting married distract me from what I'm currently doing now. Wallace, like we believed, was waiting in his office and had good news. Apparently, ELYSIAN has been waiting in the studio for a while and are excited to meet all of us. I couldn't keep myself composed as Wallace led us to the studio where two men with black and brown hair and a woman with long, blonde hair were standing at a table with the men standing across from each and the woman with her back to us. Wallace was quick to announce our band's arrival to the members of ELYSIAN as he wished for the group to introduce themselves. The men introduced themselves as Adam and Rowan Gray, who were apparently brothers. Then it was the woman's turn to introduce herself as she stepped away from the table and fully turned to face all of us. As soon as I saw her face, all emotion left both of our faces as a recollection of memories from my senior year of high school flashed across my mind.

"Mae?"

"Remington? Please tell me this is a nightmare..."
