Emerson had decided to spend the rest of that month staying with Nina in Paris to help take care of their son, Oliver. He had missed her anyway since he was last with her during the summer festivals, and being able to spend time with her and their baby made things better for him. I spent about a week watching over Oliver while they spent some personal time together, and he was just the most precious child who loved everything and everyone around him. Of course, like most young kids, Oliver was sometimes difficult to deal with when it came to tantrums or constant crying, but gaining some experience from taking care of Rosabella in the past made finding the solutions easier for me. Before leaving Paris to return to Los Angeles, I went out and bought a fancy and eye-catching cheetah-print fur coat. Knowing Remington, he'd love something as flashy and comfortable as this coat. I wished my best to Nina, Emerson and Oliver as I was packed away to leave for the airport and Nina expressed her gratitude once more for traveling all the way from America to be here with her. I told her, "There's no distance too great that I wouldn't travel for someone I consider family at this point." She smiled at that and I hugged them both while giving Oliver a sweet kiss on his head before I left for the airport with my things.

While I was on the plane flying back to Los Angeles, I thought about Oliver and how surprising it was to me that Nina - whom I've met over four years ago - is now a mother of her own child with a boy she's loved for so long. Seeing friends like Nina and Delilah being so happy as mothers, I started wondering how that would feel. I had always wanted a family, but only with the right person who would serve as a great father as well as a husband. I truly believe that person to be Remington seeing how good he's been to me all these years and the way he's so compassionate with everyone he cares about makes me believe that he'd be the best father to our kids. While I did have my worries about being a good mother, I knew for a fact that I'd do anything to protect them and remind them of how much they are loved. While I wasn't quite ready to have kids yet but was getting there, we've only been careful from any accidents due to me staying consistent with my birth control if we forget to use protection. Still, any news I might hear now compared to three years ago would actually be happy news to hear if it was with Remington.

After I finally landed and caught a cab back to the boys' house, the driver turned the radio on during the drive. The next song that played after the last one turned out to be a song I wrote lyrics for which made me smile, especially after the driver sang along to it. He commented during the middle of the song, "Man, this song is so awesome! Whoever wrote it was a freaking genius!" I giggled before I told him, "That would be me, but you're much too flattering." His eyes widened after processing my response and glanced back at me once with shock before turning his head back to the road, "You wrote this song? Jesus Christ, I'm so honored! If you've got more songs like that up your sleeve, please give us more. We love them all!" I was a blushing mess as we got to the house and I paid the driver as well as give him a generous tip, promising that there was much more to come from me, especially very soon. He smiled and wished me luck before driving away.

I knocked on the door to see if anyone was home, but no one answered and I figured the band must be still be at Sumerian Records during this time of the day and working in the studio. Since it wasn't too far from their house, I decided to walk over there and see how they were doing. Entering the lobby, I found Sadie working the front desk and when she saw me, smiled and greeted me so warmly, "Hey Carina, happy to see you again!" I reciprocated the sentiment as I smiled back at her, "Same to you, Sadie! Hey, do you know if Palaye Royale are working in the studio today?" She nodded and told me, "Oh, yeah, they are. They're still working on that song with ELYSIAN. Though, it seems like it's taking longer than expected since their lead singer doesn't like Remington very much. It's kinda funny to see." I thanked Sadie for answering my question before I made my way to the studio where I quietly entered trying not to disturb any processes in the work. It proved to be pointless after seeing said lead singer of ELYSIAN, Mae Amberleigh, arguing with Remington about something.

I was curious to know what could have happened to start this, but I didn't want to be caught in the crossfire. Sebastian noticed me and smiled as I stepped closer to him and ask, "What's going on?" He let out a tired sigh before explaining to me, "Well, things were going well until Rem tried suggesting some changes to the song that could make it better. He didn't mean to call the song bad, but Mae took it that way and now he's having a hard time trying to convince her otherwise." I slowly nodded, understanding the situation better and wondering if this might end soon in hopefully, a good way. I walked a little closer to them both inside the booth and silently listen in. I heard Mae remark with frustration, "You may have beaten me at some small-town, high school talent show, but I'm the leader of my own band now and I will not let you tell me if something we make isn't good enough for some big rockstar like you to sing without any issues. Honestly, I don't understand how anyone can tolerate how insensitive you can be."

"HE'S NOT INSENSITIVE!", I heard myself shouting out before I could even hold my tongue, "HE'S ONLY HELPING YOU TO BECOME A  BETTER ARTIST! YOU DON'T NEED TO ATTACK HIM LIKE HE'S OUT TO GET YOU!" They both turn to my direction and had looks of shock to find me standing in the middle of the doorway, practically eavesdropping on their conversation. Rem gave me a small smile just seeing me and I smiled back quickly before facing Mae who looked pissed at me, making me feel inferior. She fully turned from facing Rem to face me and have her arms crossed before letting out a sarcastic laugh, "Ha, and how in the hell would you know? You just another fangirl who got fooled by his good looks and charm, but don't know he's incapable of feeling anything but pride for himself?" I understood her reason for being angry at me, but I couldn't keep listening to her say awful things about Rem that weren't true.

Though I was still a bit insecure, I held my head up high and looked into her eyes as I boldly answered her questions, "I was anything but another fangirl who fell for that kind of crap when I met him and thought he was much worse than you claim him to be. But I let go of my pride and hurt to get to know him better even after he risked almost everything for me multiple times. You may think I'm nobody to defend him for trying to be helpful toward you, but I'm much more than you might ever expect me to be." Her expression was stunned to see me talk back to her, but she tried to remain unfazed as she asked, "And what is that exactly?" I looked back at Remington who looked blown away by how hard I was fighting to defend his honor. I walked over to him and took his hand in mine, interlocking our fingers as I boldy declared to her, "His fiancée.  The woman he devoted to love and cherish forever, and the one who's supported him and his brothers to get to where they are. Just as they've done for me."
