She dropped her flashlight and looked at the human she just attacked. Its face looked up at her, and it's gray eyes burned against the red that was splattered against its face. "10K?" She said. He went up to her and handed her a gun, "Follow me," he said. "What? I'm not following you!" "Trust me!" "Why should I?" He sighed and tried not to smile, "I just saved your ass!" She had a moment of hesitation before she took his hand that he offered and ran with him. In the hallway, there were a handful of zombies that were already dead thanks to 10K. But running over their corpses made her cringe. She could feel the bones shattering and the flesh sinking beneath their bloody shoes. She lead him down an alley that didn't seem to have many z's. In fact, it seemed to be too quiet. The only noise that was audible was their stuttered breathing. "I'm so glad you're okay," 10K said to break the silence. She shushed him and whispered, "How did you know that I was in trouble?" "I heard you talking to Citizen Z on the radio," he said. After a few seconds, Brook said, "Thank you, 10K..." He smirked at her and she hid her smile by looking away. Her hand grabbed 10K's knife (that had cut her before) and dropped it on the ground. Then she put one hand behind his neck and kissed him. "Let's go kick some zombie as.s," she said with a smirk. They came to two hallways, from one of them, they heard more hungry z's running in their direction, so they went down the other hallway. The zombies were surprisingly super fast, and they were soon very close to the pair. Too close to them. They had to turn around to shoot which slowed down their running. When they jumped over the ditch, 10K had sprained his ankle, but the adrenaline allowed him to keep going. As they twisted through the building, more z's joined them in their run. And by the time they saw the way out, they were out of ammunition and there was a parade of determined cannibals close behind. Brook had been stuck in that building for so long that she never got to exercise, so she began to slow down helplessly. A zombie grabbed her arm and tried to bite her. She stopped for a second and kicked the zombie; she took off quickly, but her kick had caused a handful of z's to fall down and the rest tripped over them. Warren drove up to them in the car and they jumped in the trunk. 10K hit the car twice loudly and Warren took off like a jet. The zombies continued to chase them until they were out of sight. Brook laid her head on 10K's shoulder when she knew that they were safe. He had put his arm around her shoulder and watched the road fall behind them. The scene was as beautiful as the sunset they shared together a few nights before. And she wanted to stay in it forever.
