The Phantom Thieves split off for the day, deciding to traverse Kaneshiro's Palace properly the next day. Everybody went their separate ways, with Makoto asking Y/N to accompany her home for the time being.
"You've really been fighting shadows in the metaverse alone all this time?" She asked the red-head at her side
"Well it's not like I wanted to do it alone" Y/N responded truthfully, "I just thought I was the only one is all..."
He honestly felt glad that he wasn't alone in this anymore. He had only travelled through Mementos six times and had been extremely careful as to not get injured, though that didn't mean he avoided fighting - during all his skirmishes he had gained great experience with his weapons, and a bond with his Persona in which he gave his full trust. Even if Okita Souji was an extension of himself, he could trust him to keep him alive in fights.
"I'm glad too in that case (F/N)" smiled Makoto. She never held any animosity against Y/N for not telling her about the metaverse, and was honestly happy she was able to stand by his side now fighting with him on equal terms - Imagining the state she found him in when they first became acquainted all that time ago scared her. She didn't want him to be hurt like that again...
The pair journeyed to Makoto's apartment discussing general things about The Phantom Thieves, and strategies on how they will manage through Kaneshiro's Palace.
It wasn't long however, when they finally reached their destination."Would you like to come inside?" Asked Makoto with a fluster on her cheeks. This was the first time she had any friends over to her apartment after all, and it was Y/N no less
The tall red-head nervously nodded with a fluster showing on his own face, before he followed Makoto into her home.
It really was like his own apartment as she had told him, with some minor differences. For example her apartment had one extra bedroom, and was decorated much more formally; but it was very homely too. It honestly suited Makoto
The pair mirrored the stay at Y/N's home as Makoto brewed the two drink as Y/N got comfortable on her couch. It was a soft couch much like his own.
A short while passed before Makoto emerged infront of Y/N placing his tea on the table alongside her own, before she sat next to him and sighed"I know that sigh" He chucked as he drank from his cup, "its been a shit day for you, hasn't it Mako"
"It wasn't all bad I suppose" Makoto breathed; "we joined the Phantom Thieves which I still can't honestly believe... we're gonna get that bastard Kaneshiro no matter what." Her tone was low, and she clearly wanted to change Kaneshiro's heart as soon as possible, which Y/N could relate to. That bastard had harmed Makoto, and tried to do as he pleased with her - they would make him regret messing with them.
As Makoto recalled her long day, one sequence of memories flowed within her mind: Y/N was always there to save her whenever she needed it.
When he broke down the club door and beat Kaneshiro's men, she never felt any sort of fear from, or for him. She could only watch in admiration as he kept his promise to always look out for her.
Which was only reinforced inside the Palace itself when he covered for the whole group stalling the shadows that were chasing them, only to appear once more before her to protect her again from the shadows.
And when she finally unlocked her Persona. When the two of them fought together like it was the most natural thing in the world, escaping out the bank with him holding her tight on the back of Johanna...Makoto couldn't help but start to warm up once again, a bright pink enveloping her face as her heart rate quickened its pace as she looked up into the grey eyes looking straight into her soul. They were captivating
