Lorie's POV

I woke up the next morning to an empty bed. "Jay?" I asked. I grabbed the blanket and held it to my body. "Jay?" He walked in with a tray of breakfast. "Did you make me breakfast in bed?"

"I did," Jay smiled. He placed the tray in front of me. He sat next to me. "I know you said you love strawberry crepes. So, I did try my best." He cut a piece and fed it to me. "How is it?"

"It's good," I nodded. "Way better that the pineapple eggs your brother made for me in Hawaii."

"He mixed pineapples with eggs?" Jay asked.

"Yeah, and it didn't sound right, but it was actually pretty good," I nodded. I finished breakfast and I gave Jay a kiss. "Thank you for breakfast, but I really do have to talk to Voight and go apartment hunting."

"Come on," Jay stated. "Get ready. I'll get the dishes done."

"Okay," I smiled. I gave Jay a small kiss. I got ready for the day. Jay and I took his truck to go to the District. We walked in and went up to Intelligence. "Sergeant Hank Voight."

"Lorie Sanders," Hank stated. He closed the door behind me. "Please, have a seat."

"I'm sure you got the email from Sheriff Kaden Rasmith," I stated.

"I did," Hank nodded. "Why Intelligence?"

"I know the team and I know everyone here, so why not?" I asked. "I can help. You and the team is a crew of seven. I can join and bring that to an even number."

"Okay," Hank nodded. We shook hands and he handed me my shield. We walked out of his office. "Alright, listen up. I want you guys to welcome Lorie into Intelligence. She's our transfer from Turner Police Department to CPD." I smiled. "Jay, she's your partner."

"She does have some restrictions," Hank stated. "We'll cross those bridges when we get there."

"Alright," Kevin nodded.

"Go ahead and canvas," Hank nodded. "Get Lorie to know the area and the streets."

"Okay," Jay stated. We got into Jay's truck. "You're an officer for Turner?"

"Yeah, uhm, was," I nodded as I smiled at him.

"How do you even have the time?" Jay asked. "Let alone get around with how famous you are."

"It's a pretty small town and not a lot happens in Turner," I stated. "People know me and they don't treat me like I'm famous."

"Well, this is Chicago and it's a lot different," Jay nodded.

"Yeah, I know," I sighed. "Well, we can apartment hunt while you train me on the streets of Chicago."

"There's a unit available in my complex," Jay replied. "What do you think?"

"Jay, if I have an apartment, I would like to stay in it," I looked at him. "And it's for me and my dad. So, I would like to be home for him."

"Right," Jay nodded.

"Why are you acting like we have to hide from my dad?" I asked. "He's known about us since the day we started dating."

"I keep forgetting that your dad knows about us," Jay sighed. "We've been hiding so long, I've lost track of who knows."

"Dad, Sylvie and Violet."

"Violet? Really?"

"Sylvie accidentally let it slip yesterday while we were setting up the bar, and I really can't blame her. Plus, the girls can keep a secret," I smiled. By the end of the day, I ended up signing the lease for the complex Jay was at. I was in the building across the lot. I let dad know and he got his friend to help him load boxes into the truck, ready for him to drive down to Chicago. Once he did, I got Jay, Kelly, Joe, Adam, Kim, Sylvie, Violet and Kevin to help us move things in. After we were moved in, Jay was over constantly. Two and a half months later, we had gotten home late. I stayed with Jay at his place. "Happy birthday to me."

"Hey, why are you sad?" Jay asked.

"Because I do all these nice things for people, but when it comes to me, this is all I have," I nodded.

"That's not true," Jay replied. "Tomorrow we get to go on vacation. Severide and Sylvie will be with us." I looked at him. "Just the four of us tomorrow."

"Severide's only going because I promised him something for his birthday, and because his birthday was two days ago, I told him he can share a birthday with me this year," I replied. Jay followed me to the bedroom. "So, that's the only reason why he's going to the Bahamas with us." The morning of our trip came. We were leaving Jay's apartment the same time Will was leaving his. I tried to act like it was normal. "Hi, Will."

"You two have been spending an awful lot of time together," Will smiled.

"We work together, dude," Jay stated.

"And living with each other?" Will asked.

"I live in the complex across the lot with my dad," I nodded. I need a quick lie, so I followed with, "I just came over early so we can get going on our vacation."

"A vacation alone?" Will asked.

"Why the questions?" Jay asked. "This is a trip for her birthday that she's paying for. Severide and Brett will be with us."

"Where are you guys going?" Will asked.

"The Bahamas," Jay stated. My phone beeped and I looked at it. I showed Jay. "Severide's here. Let's go."

"We'll bring you back a souvenir," I nodded. "See you around later."

Will's POV

"What?" I asked as they walked away. I went to Med. I walked into the room to put my items away. Natalie smiled at me. "Hey."

"Sorry I left in a hurry his morning," Natalie
stated. "Helen wanted Owen and she wants him to spend the night."

"Oh," I smiled.

"Yeah, so, you might want to shave," Natalie nodded.

"You don't like the sandpaper feel," I sighed. "It'll be gone tonight."

"Did you know Lorie Works for CPD as Jay's partner?" Natalie asked.

"I didn't till this morning. I caught them leaving for her birthday trip."

"I was invited, but it didn't feel right. I was going to be around your ex, and I almost had a thing with Jay," Natalie nodded. "If I ever have a vacation, it'll be with you. Whenever we can both have the time off."

"We'll make it work," I smiled. "We can make in a family trip with Owen."
