Unexpected Strays

Chapter 1

Walking into practice was normal... Until it wasn't. You had left to go to the bathroom for only a minute.
"Seungmin. Leave Jeongin alone. Chan, why aren't you trying to get your kids in order?"
You said, wanting to have a normal practice for once, but that wouldn't be happening today. One day... one day.
"Why though! It's fun chasing him." Seungmin said to you, which was expected since
Jeongin was Seungmin's only Dongsaeng, but still. Too busy trying to get everyone back in focus, you faintly hear Jeongin say "Thank you! Finally."
"Looks like you got this under control yourself," Chan said to you, surprised that you
could do that. As everyone finally lines up for the start of dance practice today, you hear your phone going off, and decide to check it out.
"Can anyone please keep the 7 other members on track while I take this phone call?
This is kind of an important call..." You said, seeing that the caller was Dong-Sik, a co-worker of yours for your other job as a police officer. No one knew about this and no one ever would. Except for Chan. He knew because you had to tell him, otherwise he would have found you leaving early all the time suspicious.
"I can try, but I don't know how well that is going to go," Minho said, knowing how hard
it is to keep track of 7 immature people
"Thank you, Minho. I'll try to finish quickly." You said, walking out the practice room
door.
"Hey. What's up?" You said, wanting to get straight to the point if it was important.
"We have a new member on the team, and he's been a bit of a pain. Do you want me to
send you his number?" Dong-Sik said. You were hoping it would have been more important like there was a case that needed a lot of people and there wasn't enough at the station, but whatever.
"You called me for that."
"Well, you weren't answering the texts that I kept sending you." He said, making you
realize that you had 12 new messages from Dong-Sik.
"Ok, thanks for letting me know. Send me his number, I'll try to meet him later. I am a
little busy tonight with my bandmates." You said, hearing chaos in the room.
"I'll send it to you when I can. We'll see you soon, right?" Dong-Sik said
"Hopefully soon, bye." You said, hanging up the phone right after. Entering the room
again was a lot of chaos, just as you suspected when you were standing outside hearing screaming.
"I'm guessing by how much screaming is going on, it didn't go well?" You asked
Minho, who was standing in the corner, just watching all of it happen. In the time that you were gone, only about 5 minutes, Chan had ripped up a pillow that he somehow found from a different room, Hyunjin started chasing Jeongin with Seungmin after you stopped Seungmin earlier, Felix started a pillow fight with Han from the pillows that Chan hadn't ripped yet, and Changbin was sitting in the corner, questioning life itself while looking like he was so far in space, he saw another universe.
"Ok. Chan, stop ripping pillows. They aren't even ours, and we need those even if they
don't belong to us, Hyunjin, what did I just tell Seungmin earlier?" You said, trying to make sure that everyone understood that chasing people was not going to end well in any situation, someone could get hurt, and then you all would have to go on break, and that wouldn't be good for anyone.
"Don't chase members, even if it is fun..." Hyunjin said, not wanting to listen, but
once he understands that you were trying to protect them from getting hurt, they will stop chasing each other, at least in the practice room and the dorm rooms.
"That's right. I'm just trying to protect you guys from getting hurt in here because no one
wants to get hurt while running around here. Han, Felix, Chan, why don't you get all of the pillows and build a fort for all of us and we can stay here for tonight." You said, wanting to get them relaxed enough for bed tonight since tomorrow was going to be another busy day.
"I love the idea. Come on boys, let's see how big we can get this fort to be." Felix said,
dragging the other boys with him to the recording studio. Well, that was easier than you thought it would be.
"Minho, take Hyunjin, Seungmin, and Jeongin with you to the others, and gather
blankets to help them. It will help them a lot. I'll take care of Changbin." You said, wanting to get to Changbin to see what was up with him, as his behavior was off right now.
"Let's go. We should leave them alone for right now." Minho said, wanting to make sure
that Changbin was ok. Gently pushing the others into the recording studio.
"Hey. You ok?" You said as you sat down next to Changbin, trying to gently bring him
back from his staring competition with no one by rubbing up and down his arm. It took a little bit, but eventually, he came back to you by blinking slowly and starting to fall on top of you.
"Changbin. Are you ok?" Trying to be firmer about it to get an answer from him.
"Yeah, I'm ok, just tired. Sorry for staring off like that. That's something I only do when I
am tired enough." He said. Well, at least he responded. Now he was halfway on top of you.
"Alright. Let's just stay here for a while. The others are building a giant fort for us to
sleep in tonight. After they are done, we can go in there and we can cuddle there until you fall asleep, ok?" You asked, wanting to make sure that that was what he wanted to do.
"I like that idea." He said, his mouth curling into a small smile from what you could see.
"I'll have one of the boys text me when it's done, we can go in there." You said, then
staying quiet while you pulled out your phone and texted Felix to text you when the fort was done so that way you could gently tell Changbin to stand up. 10 minutes later, you felt your phone vibrate inside your back pocket. Guessing it was Felix, you grabbed it and saw that yes, it was Felix, and he was telling you that the fort was done and you could get up to go in now.
"Changbin, it's time to go in now." You said, trying to be as soft as possible, try to wake
him up gently if he did fall asleep on you, which was most likely possible, considering how tired he was acting about 10 minutes ago.
"Really?" He grumbled, not wanting to get up, but knowing that it would be more
comfortable if he did and slept in the fort that everyone had worked so hard on.
"Yeah, it's done. Let's get you up, easy, there you go." Standing him up was harder than
you thought because he is a little taller than you, but also a little heavier than you because he was building up his muscles. Slowly walking to the door that led to where they built the fort, you opened it, and saw that everyone was inside it, all comfy and looking adorable inside.
"Almost there hon. Listen, boys, Changbin here is a little tired right now, so if we could
just keep it down for the rest of the night, that would be awesome. I'm trying to get everyone to sleep enough for tomorrow since it is going to be a hard day of practicing again." You asked, or more said since as soon as you sat down, Changbin had put his head in your lap, already half asleep on you. You knew they were going to be loud when Jeongin muttered under his breath 'Alright fine.' You had caught them. Then it was almost completely silent inside, except for the occasional phone buzz from some of the others' phones and some sighs you heard from Felix and Hyunjin. Changbin suddenly poked your hip. He wasn't asleep but looked as though he had just woken up.
"Are you sure I can do this?" He asked, not wanting to get in trouble with the company or
with you, in case you didn't want him sleeping on you.
"Changbin, I want to make sure that everyone gets enough sleep every night, even if it
means that I need to stay up a little late to ensure that everyone is asleep every night." You said, making sure that everyone heard it because everyone should know that you have done that on multiple occasions. Suddenly, the pieces of the puzzle were going in together for Chan.
"Is this why you had us build a fort and why you stay in everyone's room until I hear
someone snoring?"
"I had you build the fort to make sure that everyone gets enough sleep, but also to bring
down the amount of hyper that was going through in the room, and yes, that is why I stay in someone's room until you hear snoring."
