Winter stiffened besides Jasmin, and the strange SandWing looked at her eagerly.

"So? I can give you tons of gold and jewelry," He rambled. "My grandfather's rich! Richer than you or anyone!"

"Well, you say this...Qibli character is clever?" Jasmin pretended to muse over his words. "Well, that will be as easy as ripping a dragon's head off. But most of my victims happen to be little brainless lizards that act tough until their death. What's your name?"

"Sirocco," He replied eagerly. "I gotta sister, Rattlesnake. She's hates our little brother as much as me. We're going to get rid of him for putting our mother in prison!"

"Well, Sirocco," Jasmin snapped. "I'm afraid this will cost more than any treasure your grandfather has. I don't know if you knew, but my companion here and I happen to be friends with your brother. So I think you'll pay with your life, whether you like it or not."

Sirocco's greedy expression vanished, replaced by fear and terror. "Wha-?"

Jasmin grabbed him by the throat and pinned him to a wall, hiding a gasp as a stabbing pain pierced her shoulder. She stamped on his tail, disabling him from using his tail-barb, and Sirocco let out a screech of pain and fury. Jasmin flicked her tail-barb close to his chest, and kicked him in the stomach.

"If you or anyone else lays a single claw on Qibli, I'm going to kill every single SandWing in your family, you got it?" Jasmin growled. "Without mercy."

Sirocco nodded hastily, shaking uncontrollably.

"Be happy I'm not in the mood to kill anyone today," She hissed, and let him go. She whipped out her knife and stabbed him close to his heart, but not close enough to kill him. Sirocco gagged, blood spilling from his mouth. Jasmin kicked him to the wall and looked down at him disdainfully.

"Let's go." Jasmin turned to Winter, who had watched her as she almost killed their friend's brother.

"Come on," He cast a final glance at the unconscious Sirocco. "You've sure taught him a lesson."
