A month had passed since Jasmin's arm surgery. She'd rested as the doctor had told her to, and had flown to the healer's hut once every three days to have the bandages on her side wound changed.

It was a very annoying process, really, as well as the fact that she had to eat pills every night before she'd gone to sleep. Jasmin had to admit that they did have an effect, and Wasp no longer haunted her dreams.

Her training with Deathbringer was resuming today. But Jasmin couldn't get the words Winter had told her on their journey back to the rainforest.

You shouldn't kill anyone, no matter how evil they are. Every dragon has a family or friend that cares about them. You shouldn't rip that all away from them. Everyone has feelings, you know.

Was what the arrogant IceWing had said right? Probably, Jasmin thought. Maybe it's best for me to retire. I have too many disabilities, anyways.

And:

Hadn't I been sad about Coyote's so-called death? And Vulture; he wouldn't've attacked us if I hadn't harmed Sirocco. Maybe it's best for everyone for me to stop killing dragons. A whole lot of dragons almost killed me and Winter because I threatened Sirocco physically.

Is it too late to tell Deathbringer that I don't want to be an assassin anymore?

Her mind over-stuffed with her stupid thoughts, Jasmin headed towards the training clearing that Deathbringer had decided for them to train. He was already waiting for her, tapping his tail on the ground impatiently.

"You're finally here," The NightWing said. "Any later and it would be tomorrow!"

"But it isn't, and I'm here right now," Jasmin pointed out wryly. "Anyways, I've decided to retire from being an assassin."

"What?" Deathbringer blinked.

"Yeah. I don't want to kill anyone anymore," Jasmin said bluntly. "Because it's making my life harder."

"All that training," Her half-brother murmured to himself sadly. "Wasted."

"Not going to be wasted," Jasmin corrected. "I'll still use it for self-defense. Besides, I've got too many injuries to continue on a dangerous job."

"Well, I guess it's fair," Deathbringer obliged grudgingly. "Because I stopped being an assassin ages ago."

"See?" Jasmin cried. "So don't try to convince me otherwise. I want a peaceful life from now on."

"As peaceful as a once-assassin with one missing arm and a wound that won't heal can get," Deathbringer muttered.

"Not my fault some evil psycho queen decided to keep me hostage in some moon-cursed dungeon," Jasmin snapped. "You try that."

"So, what are you going to do now?" Deathbringer asked.

"Start a peaceful life," Jasmin replied. "With no strange interferences."

And then her new, peaceful life began to unfurl.
