"Dispatch said a tree fell on a victim?" Hen asked as they walked to the man

"Yeah, but probably not how you're imagining." The ranger told them "He was standing underneath the root ball of a fallen tree when it snapped back up on top of him."

"That's a thing that happens?" Y/n asked as she looked at the tree's around her

"Well, sometimes after storms or if other debris pinning the downed tree falls away, the tension from the root system still underground can pull it back up." The ranger continued

"Like a mighty oak slingshot." Eddie said as he spun the shovel in his hand

"Yeah, one that weighs several tons." Buck rolled his eyes

"Hurry! I can hear him moaning under there!" A girl yelled as she dug

"Okay, all right." The ranger said as they jogged to her

"That's good. That means he's still alive." Hen comforted "Let me have you clear out. Make some room for my team to work."

"All right. Y/n, Eddie, Chimney, start digging access holes on the side" hen ordered

"Copy that." They all spoke at the same time before giving each other a look and getting started

"Dispatch, this is Captain 118." Hen spoke into her radio "We've got a victim with multiple crush wounds. We're gonna need a air ambulance at the nearest clearing to our GPS coordinates."

"Copy that, Captain 118."

"118, Medevac Three is eight minutes out from your location."

"Buck, on me." Hen told him as she threw a rope over the branch of the tree "need a anchor point and a hinge so we can expose that root ball."

"Anchor point secure." Buck called out

"Ssee the head." Eddie spike

"And I got a foot." Y/n announced before throwing a boot behind her

"Okay, pulleys are secure." Buck told hen

"Okay. Shouldn't take much to pull it down now."

"I got a pedal pulse." Chin said feeling the man's foot "It's weak, but it's there."

"Airway is patent." Eddie spike "Breath is severely diminished by the pressure of the tree."

"All right, Chim, run a peripheral line of saline through his ankle." Hen said as she went beside him "His body's gonna want to decompensate when we remove the pressure from the tree"

"All righ"

"Let me have that turnout." Eddie asked and it was handed to him "I'll use it to protect his airway."

"Here's the chain saw, Cap." Someone set it next to hen

"I'm in, Cap." Chin called out

"All right, everyone in position to pull." Hen called to them "once I cut the roots on this side, we can tip the tree over. All right." Hen turned on the saw and began to cut the root of the tree until it was free "All right, on my mark. One, two... Three!"

They all pulled on the rope whole Eddie, y/n and chim shoved their shovels under and pushed

"Buck, clear out!" Hen yelled as they then ran as the tree fell

"Timber." Buck said once it was fallen

"He's not breathing." Y/n said as she fell to his side

"Pulse is bottoming out. Looks like massive internal bleeding." Chim yelled "let's get him on a board." One was brought over "On three. One, two, three."
