When Friday comes around, Mum wakes me up early.
"Since you're at home all day, can you clean the house and decorate it? I'm throwing a surprise party for Paul, as he comes back at five tonight," Mum says, referring to her boyfriend. I smile, knowing that Mum is going to be so much more happier now.
"Sure, who are you inviting?" I ask, curiously.
"You'll see," Mum smirks, before going downstairs to work, dropping Chloe off at school on the way. I sigh, before getting dressed into some leggings and an old football shirt. Then I start cleaning, listening to music at the same time.
The house is spotless about two hours later. I pick up my debit card then, and head down to the shops. I start buying balloons, bunting, cake, all of that stuff. Then I buy some new music speakers and some new CD's. Then I quickly go as buy a new dress to wear, before heading back to the house. I star decorating then. I go into my Mum's room, as her room is to the front of the house, taking up the two front windows. I open her window and hang the bunting from her window. Then I place some red roses in a vase for her on her bedside table, before heading back downstairs. I start filling up the balloons with helium, and tying them down in the doorway.
After filling up lots of balloons, I head out to the back garden, and tie some balloons by the tables. There is quite a lot of people coming, which is nice. There is a microphone and some speakers set up ready, and there are nice table cloths covering the tables. Then an idea forms in my head. I'll book a band to come. I call up various places, and eventually find a good band to come. Then I set out some flowers on each table, and smile, before going back inside. It's about one in the afternoon now, so I start the cooking. I put in about a hundred cupcakes, because who doesn't like cupcakes? I also put some healthy snacks out, along with some sausage rolls and things. I place the different snacks on these cupcake holder things, but keep them inside for now. I also make a big white cake as well, because I thought it looked cute. My phone rings then, and I click answer.
"Hello?" I ask, frowning.
"It's Martin, hey Ria," Martin, Mum's boyfriend, says cheerfully.
"Oh, hey Martin. What can I do for you?" I question, smiling.
"Well as you know, I'm visiting today for the weekend. Well I was wondering what you would say if I...if I proposed," Martin says, nervously. I'm surprised, but happy.
"Are you actually? Oh my god, I'm so happy for you! Have you got a ring? She would definitely say yes," I say, happily. Martin sighs in relief.
"I would like to, but we obviously wouldn't have the wedding until I'm back for good, but I would like to marry your mother, I love her more than anything," Martin says, and I smile.
"Well she's head over heels for you, so she'll be ecstatic," I say, and Martin chuckles.
"How do I do it then?" Martin asks, nervously.
"I'll deal with it," I grin, and Martin chuckles.
"Good, thank you so much, Ria, it means a lot," Martin says, and he sounds like he means it.
"It's nothing," I say, before hanging up. I grin excitedly, just as Mum gets home from work.
"You've done an amazing job," Mum says, and I look at the clock. Four in the afternoon, one hour. I grin, before handing Mum a box. She opens it, and inside is a pretty white dress for her. It comes to her knees, and I thought it suited her.
