Chapter Thirteen: Just Another Girl.

I walk into the house after coming back from the beach, and Mum is sat on the sofa. Martin has gone back now for a couple of weeks, before he is back for good. I think he's going to apply for a job in the police force, which will be nice for him. Mum looks up, and frowns when she sees my face.
"Ri, are you okay?" Mum asks, frowning.
"Yeah," I sigh, and Mum frowns.
"Tell me what's wrong," Mum says, and I sit down on the sofa next to her.
"So, we went to the beach today, as you know. Well, River almost kissed me. He didn't speak to me really after, and I don't want him to stop talking to me. Then we were on the beach, and they were all changing into their swimming stuff. But I couldn't do it. I took one look at them all, and I couldn't do it, so I was stuck in my trousers and jumper. So I just stayed and watched, while reading a book and listening to music. They all are just so flawless in every way, and then there's me, the fat girl who everyone is forced to be friends with, the girl with the ugly face," I say, and Mum immediately wraps her arms around me and hugs me.
"Okay, firstly, what do you think about River?" Mum questions.
"I don't know, he's alright, I guess. He's a nice guy, pretty overconfident though," I shrug, and Mum raises an eyebrow.
"Do you like him?" Mum questions, and I frown. Do I like him? I don't know. I mean, he's attractive, I'll give him that. And he's a nice guy, but do I like him?
"I like him," I realise, before groaning. Now I'm just another girl who fell for his stupid charm.
"And River nearly kissed you today, so maybe he likes you," Mum says, and I laugh.
"Fat chance, Mum. River's not that type, he's the sort of guy who gets what he wants, he doesn't go for relationships of anything. His type of love is getting a girl in bed," I reply, biting my lip. Why do I like him?
"People change," Mum says, and I roll my eyes.
"Don't I know it," I mutter, and Mum sighs.
"And about the second part. You're not fat or ugly, you're normal weight, which is good. And you're not ugly, no one in the world is ugly. Everyone is beautiful," Mum says, and I roll my eyes.
"If everyone was beautiful, then there would always be someone who is less beautiful," I say, and Mum sighs.
"And you're not that person," Mum says, and I smile slightly.
"Thanks Mum," I say, before hopping upstairs. I sit down on my bed and close my window and close the curtains. Then I go back to basics. What did I always used to do when I was bothered about something? Video games. And that's exactly what I do. I take out my controllers and turn on the TV. I smile, before starting to play.

She's just so...confusing. I almost kissed her, and I don't even know why. I don't even like her like that, so why did I try and kiss her?
I can't tell if she's ignoring me or not. She never came into the water, before she had an argument with Cara and left. I want to run after her, but if I'm the problem then that's not what she wants. I sigh, before taking out my phone. I see Ria's text from a while ago, and frown.
Ria: Gone for a walk, I'll be back soon.
I sigh, before sending her a text.
River: I'm sorry if I've done something wrong, hope you're okay x
I put down my phone then, after waiting a few minutes to see if she replies, though she doesn't. Then Oli gets out a beach ball. We start throwing it around, and I glance at Cara.
I can't help but notice how different she is to Ria. Cara is very confident about herself, about her body, about everything. She's a lot more like Ashley than Ria. She runs across the sand in her small black bikini, and catches the ball. I shake my head, before going back to the game of catch.
After playing catch for a bit, we start to pack up the stuff. I pick up my phone, and see that I have a new message.
Ria: You haven't done anything wrong, don't worry. I was just having an off day, sorry if I ruined your day x
I smile slightly, before replying.
River: Okay, you didn't ruin the day at all. Hope you're okay xx
I slip my phone into my pocket, before we walk back up to the cars. It's sunset now, and the sky is pink and orange.
"Okay, I'll take Oli as he's coming back to mine," I say, waving to the others, before getting in my car with Oli. I start to drive back, and Oli eventually speaks.
"You know Rihanna thinks you're playing her, right?" Oli says, and I frown.
"No, why would she think that?" I reply, sighing.
"Because you nearly kissed her, you idiot," Oli replies, rolling his eyes.
"I didn't mean to. I don't even know why I did," I groan, and Oli chuckles.
"Because she's pretty? I don't know. Do you like her?" Oli asks.
"Not like that," I reply, and Oli nods. "Why?"
"Nothing, it's just that I like her a bit, that's all. But I wouldn't go after her if you liked her," Oli says, and I shrug, though I think I do care, not because I like her, but because I don't want her to get hurt.
"Okay," I shrug, and Oli grins, as we arrive at the house. I walk inside my house, and go up to my room with Oli. I glance at Ria's window, and see her Mum, Louise, opening her curtains for her. Her window is open, and I can hear Louise talking to Ria.
"But why do I have to go to the hospital? I'm fine now, it was just an off day," Ria says, and Louise frowns.
"Look Ria, I love you, and I don't want you to fall into the same problem again, so please go to the hospital," Louise says, and Ria sighs.
"But I'm fine, I'll eat a whole pizza if it makes you feel better," Ria says, rolling her eyes.
"Fine, I'll get him to come here," Louise smirks, before leaving her room. Then Ria's sister goes into her room and sits down next to Ria.
"Did Mum tell you that she's decided on the date of the wedding?" Chloe asks Ria, and Ria shakes her head.
"Well they have. I get to wear a cute bridesmaids dress," Chloe gushes, and Ria chuckles.
"Well I'm stuck being maid of honour, I've got to write some ridiculous speech," Ria laughs, and Chloe grins.
"Good luck with that," Chloe grins.
"Go to bed, Chlo," Ria laughs, before carrying Chloe out the room. I shake my head, before sitting down on my bed.
