Chapter Eight: A Day Out And A Letter.

I wake up in the guest room of River's house. It's only six, so I be quiet as I change into some leggings and a black hoodie. I brush my hair, but I don't have any makeup so I don't put any on. I put all my stuff in a bag, before opening the door. It's still dark, so I quietly head across to River's room. I quietly open the door and see that he's still asleep. I smile slightly. He looks cute when he's asleep. That sounds creepy. Oh well.
I go to his desk and find a blank piece of paper. I take out a pen and write a small message.
Thanks for letting me stay round. From, Ria x
I place it on his bedside table, before quietly leaving his room. I walk downstairs, and quietly leave the house. I walk across to my house, and unlock the door. I walk upstairs and quietly tap on Mum's door. Martin answers the door in some sweatpants, and raises an eyebrow.
"I did knock this time, I was going to ask if you wanted me to make you both breakfast," I whisper, knowing that Mum will still be asleep.
"Sure," Martin grins, and I smile, before going back downstairs. I turn on the oven, and start to cook.
Once I'm done, I place it all on two separate plates. I made them a nice proper English breakfast. I make them both a tea, and an orange juice, before carrying the trays upstairs. I knock lightly on the door again, before walking in.
"There you are," I smile, handing them a tray each. Mum smiles sleepily at me, and I grin, before going downstairs. I have a glass of water, before sitting down on the living room sofa and turning on the TV.
A few hours later, Chloe comes home, looking excited. I smile, as she sits down next to me.
"Put your shoes on, we're going out!" Mum calls from upstairs. I roll my eyes, before putting on some trainers. I help Chloe tie up her shoelaces, before Martin and Mum run downstairs, clearly racing each other. Their mental age is literally five.
"I win!" Mum shouts, as Martin spins her round.
"Nah, I won," Martin chuckles, kissing her cheek. I roll my eyes, before we head outside. Martin gets in the drivers seat of his car, and Mum sits in shotgun. Chloe and I sit in the back, before Martin drives away.
"So, where are we going?" I ask, curiously.
"To the cliffs," Martin replies, and I nod. The cliffs are near the beach, obviously. They're really pretty to look out on, and I like them. It's a good place to think. The air is really fresh as well, and it's really calming.
The drive is only about five minutes, and we listen to the radio loudly on the way.
"My ex-man brought his new girlfriend, she's like "Oh, my god!" but I'm just gonna shake. And to the fella over there with the hella good hair, won't you come on over, baby? We can shake, shake, shake," I sing along loudly, as we reach the cliff.
I automatically feel the fresh air hit me, and smile. The wind is strong and the sky is grey, but it's still nice. Mum and Martin hold hands, and I lift Chloe up onto my shoulders. We start to walk along the path, and I smile. The cliffs are nice, an escape from the world. We find a nice place to sit down and set out the picnic blanket. We sit down, and Mum sets out some food. Chloe immediately takes all the chocolate, and I laugh, taking a roll and a drink. My phone makes a noise, and I open the text.
River: Hey Ri, would you like to spend tomorrow with my Mum, Zach and me?
Ria: Depends, what are you doing? X
River: Ice Skating or Roller Skating, I can't remember which x
Ria: Sure, it sounds fun x
River: And you said your perfect date was ice skating ;) x
Ria: Well I asks said with the perfect guy, and I prefer someone less egotistic ;) x
River: You can't deny it, you're attracted to me ;) x
Ria: In your dreams x
River: No, in my dreams we're having hardcore sex x
Ria: In my dreams, you're stuck down a well and I'm laughing my ass off x
River: I'm down the well because you made a wish that you wanted me ;)
Ria: And the award for the worst comeback ever goes to...
River: Your ass.
Ria: No, River Brooks.
River: Your ass must be jealous of the amount of shit that comes out your mouth.
Ria: Whatever, Brooks, speak to you later x
River: Have a good day, just as good as our night last night ;)
I roll my eyes, placing my phone down. I slowly eat my roll, before I take out the football. Mum packs away the picnic, before we start playing football, me and Martin against Mum and Chloe.
My team wins, and we finish playing. We put the ball away, just as it starts to rain. It starts off light, before it starts chucking it down. Chloe screams, before we start running back to the car. We're all completely soaked by the time we get back to the car, but we're all laughing. We get in the car and Martin starts driving. We reach home, and get out the car, still soaking wet. We quickly go inside, and take off our coats. I go upstairs and turn on my shower, before I get in the shower and the warm water surrounds me.
After the shower, I go downstairs and sit on the sofa. We have a domino's and a film on. We all squeeze onto the sofa, and start to watch the film.
When the film is done, I go upstairs and sit on my bed. I spot a letter on my bed, and frown, opening it up.
Dear Ria,
Hey Ria, I know you don't really want to talk to me, and when we did we just ended up arguing, so I wrote a letter instead. All those years ago, I didn't think it would end like that, and I'm sorry it did. It was entirely my fault, and I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have cheated on you the first time, and you were nice enough to give me a second chance. Sometimes I wonder what I did to deserve you. Then you gave me so many chances, and I guess I took advantage of it. Then she got pregnant. I didn't expect it at all, it was a shock. I found out about a month before you found out. I was stressed, and you were being so kind to me that it bothered me. And on that one night I hit you, and I regret it every day. Then I got an alcohol problem, and it was the final straw. I got into that argument with you, and you ended up in hospital. Then I took the cowards way out and ran. I left because I couldn't face the damage I had caused. I knew that you were helping her with the pregnancy, I knew you were okay. But I couldn't return, so I left completely, not looking back. I know you probably hate me, but I wanted you to know that I am truly sorry, and I hope that you're happy now.
Love, Caspar x~*~
Aloha guys, I wrote this chapter and it was much longer, but then Wattpad randomly deleted it, for no reason at all. So I had to rewrite it, and it's like 3000 words shorter, as I was going to do a nice long chapter for you, but now I haven't. Sorry! Thanks for reading, and don't forget to vote and comment! Love, A xxx
