Ch. 27 *Corypheus*

We ride for battle with an army behind us, on our way to begin our final fight against Corypheus.
Nalia rides ahead of us, confidence her aura, encouraging those who are scared.
Ahead of us we see ruins of an ancient building. Even from here I can hear the demons screech, hear Corypheus's voice.

I can't help but tighten the reins on my horse.

Nalia turns her horse sideways so that she can look at us all. "Soldiers! All you fighting men and women!" She trots her horse, "we have gone through so much together. Today is the day Corypheus will fall!"
Everyone cheers so loud it shakes the ground beneath our feet.

"We will end this once and for all! Together!" She unsheathes her dagger and points forward, doing a war cry as she runs into the pile of demons that circle the ruins like sharks in the ocean.

I leap off my horse, rushing forward to attack a Shade, before ducking and going after a Despair demon.
Nalia fights more oncoming demons, before a ball of red electricity shoots past her face, nearly grazing her skin.

She ducks it in time, before looking up to see Corypheus standing before us.
He stares down at us, a smirk on his face. "Tell me, where is your Maker now?" He chuckles, "call him. Call down his wrath upon me."

Nalia squeezes the hilt of her daggers, staring back at him in fury, not an ounce of fear within her eyes.
"I shall be the one to deliver you from this lie in which you linger." He holds up the Orb that glows red.
Solas's eyes widen seeing it.
"Bow before your new God and be spared," Corypheus points at Nalia, who holds her weapons up to her chest.

She takes a couple steps closer. "It ends here Corypheus!" She shouts, which only makes his face harden into a scowl.

"And so it shall," he says, raising his arms before slamming them on the ground.
Suddenly, we're off balanced, and the ground were standing on is lifted into the air, like floating mountains.

I fall over twice, and so does Nalia, but just as fast as she goes down she shoots back up, ready to attack whatever comes across as a threat.
"You have been most successful in foiling my plans, Knife Ear." Corypheus straightens his posture. "But let us not forget what you are. A thief, in the wrong place at the wrong time. An interloper, a gnat..."

Nalia poisons her daggers. "You have no power over me, Corypheus. I will end you!" There's a burning fury in her eyes, it fuels her drive, makes her strong when she is weak, brave when she is scared...

Suddenly, we hear the screech of his dragon. It flies over our heads, landing on a broken building behind it's master, waiting for his order to strike us.
My eyes widen.
Corypheus smirks, raising his hand to attack, but he's thrown to the side from the force of our dragon colliding into his.

They both fall off the building and into the dark, before emerging up into the moonlight, chasing after each other in fury. It succeeds in biting the Archdemon's tail, and it screams in pain, twisting it's neck to get try and attack our dragon.

"You dare!" Corypheus stands up, shouting in rage as he releases another bolt of lightening towards us.
We all take cover behind stone moments before the ground is coated in flames.

Nalia throws a knife at Corypheus, but he dodges it, attacking us with such a power I've never seen before.
Solas gets thrown back, colliding into a stone wall and laying weakly on the ground.
I rush over to help, unaware that Nalia is recklessly running towards Corypheus.

"Nalia!" Solas shouts right when I reach him, but it's too late. Corypheus turns right when she raises her dagger, and he grabs her by the neck, lifting her off the ground.
She's choking, clawing at his grip that won't loosen.
"You weak, pathetic, Dalish rat," he snarls as he brings her closer to his face, to instill more fear in her. "Do you really think you can defeat a God? You couldn't even protect your brother, your family..."
