Olivia sprinted over to me as I appeared in the doorway.
She was sniveling.
Great, just what I needed. Another problem to worry about.
'What's up sweetheart?' I asked, bending to her level.
'Brandon pushed me.'
I looked over to where a little boy stood, being reprimanded by the afterschool club teacher. He had been dealt with.
'What hurts?' I asked.
She paused, before deciding to pat her side. She made her pout more prominent.
'Can I check for bruising?' I asked, concerned.
'No, I don't think anything's there but it really really really really hurts.' She babbled, turning her wound site away from me.
She had a habit of being a bit of a drama queen sometimes. Two can play at this game.
'Do you need to go to the hospital?' I asked, seeming dead serious and dramatic.
She thought about it, before slowly shaking her head.
'That's good then. Wanna go for ice cream?'
She looked up at me, her eyes shining with happiness, not tears this time.
'C'mon then munchkin.' I grabbed her bag and she held my hand as we walked out of the school.
We dumped our stuff at my house and I called Rogue, and got her ready for a walk. Because, you know, I still have responsibilities.
There was always an ice cream van in the park in the afternoons, so we walked through the park and located the ice cream van.
'Two Mr.Whippy's please, with a flake and extra sprinkles.'
I exchanged the money and we sat down on a bench, watching Rogue stroll around the grass, sniffing around.
'How was school?' I asked Liv.
'It was terrible. At lunch I got caught out of What's The Time Mr Wolf? and I got moved down the behaviour ladder because I didn't sit in my learning space properly.' She whinged.
'I'm sure tomorrow will be much better, I promise.'
'Do I have to go to afterschool club? I hate it.' She said, looking at me inquisitively.
I sighed. 'Only on Thursday's Liv, other days no.'
'Why?'
'I just have a meeting that I have to go to.'
'Can't I come?'
'You would get so bored. I know you don't like afterschool club, but it's only for an hour or so. Plus you get cookies.' I said, raising my eyebrows, acting impressed.
'I want a cookie!' She moaned.
I wiped the excess chocolate sprinkles from her chin with my tissue.
'You've had enough sugar to last you until next week missy.' I tutted.
She giggled and got up and ran towards Rogue in the middle of the field. They chased each other for a while and I just watched as they wore each other out.
We walked back to my house and settled down for the evening.
I got a text from Olivia's mum, saying she won't be home until about 11. I honestly didn't mind though, I loved Olivia's company.
I put some chicken nuggets and chips in the oven and fed Rogue. Olivia liked making her sit and give paw before she was allowed to eat, it was honestly so adorable.
