Sidon forgot how long they walked, swallowing thickly as sweat slid down either side of his forehead. Quickly wiping the sweat away, the taller male leaned against a nearby tree, fanning himself for a few seconds with his hand. Link stopped walking, turning his attention to the other male, putting a hand on his hip while chuckling lowly. "How about we camp for the night?" He suggested.
"I-I-I can keep walking, just need to cool down for a few minutes." Sidon panted.
The blonde hero slipped his bag off his shoulder, setting it next to the other before sitting down. "We won't be hitting a stable anytime soon, it's best we don't push ourselves too hard, especially with your condition." Link said with a large smile.
The larger male huffed, "Just because I have put on a few pounds doesn't mean anything." He argued.
"Of course not, just means we have to take things slowly." Link teased, pulling out a small bottle of water and holding it out for the other.
Sidon slid down the tree, gulping down the water. "Where is the nearest stable?" He asked, peeking over the younger male's shoulder.
"Three days west, but with the terrain, it could be longer." The other answered.
"So, we're camping out?" The large shark asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Yeah, is that a problem?" Link responded.
"No, I've never gone camping before. Father had always wanted me and my sister to be inside the kingdom by the time it became dark." Sidon elaborated.
"You're trying many new things on this adventure, aren't you?" Link laughed.
"All thanks to you Link," Sidon answered, cheeks darkening.
The blonde hero set a hand on the shark's thigh, squeezing gently. Inhaling and exhaling softly before pushing himself to his feet "We should find some firewood and something to eat." He finally spoke.
"I can do some fishing if you want to get the firewood," Sidon suggested.
Link nodded, seeing the taller man remove the shirt Link had loaned him back at the village. Sidon's little pot belly bounced slightly as he stretched, reflexively scratching his stomach. The blonde hero's cheeks deepened as he watched the other carefully make his way to the river's edge and effortlessly plunge into the water. The younger man wondered how long it would be until Sidon's increased weight made it more difficult for him to swim. The other man, shaking his head, quickly proceeded further into the woods, collecting logs and thick branches into his arms.
After some time, Link returned to the small camp, noticing the large pile of fish next to the fire pit. "I was worried you got lost," Sidon called, with a large smile.
"Wanted to make sure we had enough, don't know how long we are going to be walking." Link lied.
"I got the firepit ready, while you were gone," Sidon said, watching the younger hero drop the large pile in front of him. Sidon watched Link make the fire, handing him different branches and dried leaves before placing the fish on the fire. Then watched him set up the sleeping rolls and blankets. After a few moments, the larger male cleared his throat. "Did I do something wrong already?" He asked.
The blonde blinked a few times, his lips pressed tighter. "No, there is just a lot on my mind." He lied once more.
"Is there anything I can help with?" The other male urged.
"No," Link sighed poking the fire with one of the branches.
They ate dinner silently; Sidon would steal glances at the other before looking away quickly. He still couldn't help doing something, but he couldn't recall what he would have done. The larger male looked down at his stomach and then swallowed slowly, was Link turned off by his weight? Mentally shaking his head Sidon took another bite of fish, that couldn't be it, back at the village Link expressed how much bigger he wanted him to get. Was that a lie? Was he not eating enough for the hero? Sidon let out a small growl, tossing the fish bone to the side.
"I don't want to fight, but something is wrong. Just tell me what I did so that I can fix it." The shark pleaded.
"You didn't do anything, I just don't want you to feel like I'm forcing you to do something you don't want to do," the blonde hero said after a lengthy silence.
"If you're talking about weight, I've previously stated that I don't mind. I promise you that I enjoy it." Sidon said.
"You shouldn't Sid, what will your father say when I bring you back home? He'll kill me if he finds out I turned you into a fat pig." The blonde shouted.
Sidon smiled, chuckling lowly. "Did I ever tell you how my parents met?" He asked.
"I don't want to hear that right now Sid, I'm serious." The other sighed running a hand down his face,
"When they met, my father, which was my age at the time, told me it was love at first sight.
My mother often used to say, "The way to a man's heart is through his stomach." He went on, ignoring the other.
"What does that have to do with us?" Link asked.
"It was love at first sight for me as well; the young hero rescuing Hyrule from the monster and then traveling the world alongside me is as romantic as it sounds." It just goes to show how much you love me that you feed me and make me fat." Sidon said.
Link smirked, as the other male took the hero's hand into his. "I wouldn't have said yes, I didn't want to be here with you." He continued kissing his hand.
"You're such a dork." The hero muttered, taking his hand back. Looking up, he exhaled slowly.
"I forgot how many stars there were." He commented.
"Have you never been camping?" The other asked, shimming closer to the other as they climbed into the bed roll.
"When I was traveling to take out Ganon I did, most of the time I would sleep in the shrines or stables. I forgot to look up at the sky every so often." Link answered.
"Mipha was often found outside on the kingdom walls staring at the stars, sometimes I would find her making armor for the guards or playing her flute," Sidon replied.
"Where are you and your sister close?" The blonde asked.
"Of course, I loved my sister, but she knew she had a duty as princess to protect Hyrule." The other answered.
"Sorry, she was one of the people who fell during the battle." The blonde spoke in a hushed tone.
"I think she knew she was going to die, deep down I think she knew she'd be a hero to everyone afterward," Sidon stated, trying to keep his voice even.
Link's eyes became heavy as he listened to the other talk, and the larger male wrapped his arm around the smaller one. Setting his face on the hero's head and rambling till they both fell asleep.
