She sighed. "No, this is all wrong!" Katie Zhang was sitting at her desk, working on her most recent writing project. The light of the screen reflected off her thin-rimmed glasses, in contrast to the dark room. She petted her cat and stared at the poster on her wall, reading "SCP Field Codes." She smiled. She had been a member of the SCP wiki community since the day she was old enough to join, and still watched content on YouTube before that.
She grabbed one of her writing books off her desk, turned on the desk lamp, and flipped to the last few pages.

Stuck? Here are some tips!
If you're not sure where you're at, give yourself an estimated page count. See the pages on the "signpost scenes" to see some guidelines for what to write.
Make sure your hero is flawed, but still likable enough that readers will root for them.
The catalyst shouldn't be too late in the book, or it'll get boring!
The B story character doesn't have to be a character in the regular sense. In Misery by Stephen King, the B story character is the main character in the protagonist's novel.
Even if your story doesn't have external bad guys, it needs internal bad guys (the hero's flaws!)
If there's a problem with the first act, there's likely a problem with the third act.

"Katie!" came a voice from outside. It was her younger sister, Natalie. "You promised you would get us McDonalds for dinner tonight!"
"Fine." Katie shut off her computer and stepped outside her room.
"Where were you all day?" Natalie asked. Her short brownish black hair was in between her chin and shoulder height.
"I was writing."
"Of course you were."
Katie sighed and put on a jacket, opened the door, and stepped into her shoes. The cool night air woke her up, and they got into the car. "Let's put on the radio," Katie said to herself.
"Sirius XM, Top 40 Hits, NPR...hey, what's this channel? 93 point...ummm...I can't read that number. I need new glasses," Katie mumbled. She turned the radio on.
They heard the sound of heavy breathing and footsteps. "This—is Dj Scip, I'm—I'm at Site-19, please—someone come help—breach—explosion—" and it cut out.
"Um...that was weird..."
"What's Site-19?" Natalie asked.
"I...actually have no idea. I mean, it's an SCP thing, but I don't know about it in a real life context," Katie said.
They drove to McDonalds, and got some burgers, soda, and fries. On the way home, Natalie searched up "Site 19" on her phone.
"Well, the only things that are popping up are SCP related, so idk," Natalie said.
Katie took a bite of her burger. "Maybe it's some sort of elaborate prank? I'm pretty sure there's a podcast hosted by someone that goes by Dj Scip."
"Either way, it's kinda sus," Natalie said, dipping a fry in ketchup. "Oof, these fries aren't as good as I expected."
"Oh, I forgot to ask them for no pickles on your burger. Hey, you should try searching up Dj Scip!" Katie said.
Natalie picked off the pickles. "You search it up."
"Fine."
Just then, a message popped up on Katie's phone.

Katie sighed and closed the message without reading it. Rachel Johnson always picked on her since middle school, and they were not thrilled to be in the same high school, to say the least. Hopefully she wouldn't happen to attend the same college as her. "Oh, there's another message."

Guys, did you get the email from Rachel? Ugghhh! Like she didn't bully us enough when school was in session! I just want to enjoy my ice cream in peace.
Also, Katie, when will you be done with your writing? We all wanna see it! You should actually post stuff to the wiki. Your tales AND scips are great!

"You know you read that out loud, right?" Natalie said.
Katie took another bite of her food. "Oh, I guess that's just a habit I have."
"You know, you should stop worrying about what everyone else thinks about your writing. Everyone says it's good!" Natalie said.
"I just don't want to share my work," Katie said. "Plus, I still have to finish this one piece I'm working on.
"Hey, did you ever search up 'Dj Scip?'" Natalie asked.
Katie took a sip of her soda. "Oh yeah, I got sidetracked by the email. Well, the only thing that's coming up is about FAM Radio, that podcast.
They realized they had been parked in the garage for a while now, so they got their remaining food and went inside. It was raining, and Katie's fries got soggy.
Katie spent the rest of the night listening to FAM Radio and being frustrated at her writing. She finally retired at 3:00 AM. As she went to sleep, their cat, Mochi, cuddled up beside her.
A/N: Podcasts are good.
Mentions in this chapter: FAM Radio, Site-19 Dossier (this thing won't link for some reason?)
