A/N: If y'all are wondering why these are double spaced (assuming they are in the posted fanfic), the more space a chapter takes up, the better I feel about myself.

"47 bottles of beer on the wallllll..."

They were 3 hours in, and Abner had taken to entertaining himself by singing. He was ridiculously off key, and his voice cracked more than what Katie thought possible.

"Ugh, can you please stop?" Natalie was trying to sleep.

"47 bottles of beer, you take one down, you pass it around, 46 bottles of beer on the wall! 46 bottles of beer on the wall, 46 bottles of beer..."

Natalie slammed her hand on the center console. "Shut up! You're already at 46 bottles! Now stop singing stupid car songs, I'm trying to sleep!" She didn't look very intimidating given that she was 14 and was wearing a pink eye mask.

"You take one down, you pass it around..."

1 hour later...

Natalie suddenly became very worried. A thought had suddenly struck her like thunder, and she was quick to voice it.. "Wait, what hotel are we going to anyways? What if mom finds out?"

Katie grinned. "That, I've already planned out. Mom already knows we're going, she just doesn't know about Abner."

He breathed a sigh of relief. "At least your mom doesn't know about me. Wait, where is she?"

"Oh, something came up. Not important," Katie said.

"Wait, Mom was perfectly fine with us taking a cross-country road trip alone?"

"Yup. That's awfully convenient and unlikely and definitely not like her, but yay. And I have a credit card. I may have also begged her for money."

"Ah, classic Katie." Natalie liked to poke fun at her.

"Ha ha. Also, we're staying at Park MGM. We'll—"

"Woah!"

They were on the Las Vegas Strip. It was brightly lit up everywhere, and was so pretty it would make the brightest stars in the sky jealous.

"Dang, haven't been to Vegas in forever. Always more impressive than you remember, huh?" He playfully smiled at Natalie. They drove around for a bit and finally found their hotel.

3 hours later...

It was 9:37 PM. Natalie was lounging on an armchair. She had just taken a shower, and her hair was a little wet.

Katie was sitting on the bed closer to the window. The sisters would have to sleep in the same bed for the rest of the trip. She was careful not to let her clean hair touch any particularly dirty places. She had her laptop open, and the clickety-clack sounds of her typing could be heard. The light of the screen reflected off of her glasses.

(A/N: No, she's not using an old computer. That's just the way I describe typing.)

Abner had left to gamble, so it was pretty quiet in the room. Natalie seemed content with just sitting there.

Katie read over her manuscript one last time. God, I need improvement, she thought. She kept on typing until 10:30. She shut off her computer and set it on the bedside table, then pulled the covers over her.

She always found hotel beds to be a little uncomfortable and the pillows too fluffy, but she eventually drifted off to sleep.

A/N: Short filler chapter. Also, the next chapter will be Katie's draft. (totally not an excuse to post my other terrible writing, lol.)
