Eclipse

Chapter 8

Time: Early Evening

Place: Deeper into the depths of the hospital. 

"Looks like I'm back in the hospital proper now. " Jeremy stated almost excitedly.

He took in his surroundings as best as he could, gurneys lined each side of wide hall. Most had something on them covered by dirty sheets.  The walls themselves were so black, he felt he was staring into the darkness of space. There was no light, he was shrouded in darkness. 

The flashlight he held didn't do much as the light struggled to pieces the dark. 

Jeremy's first step echoed down the hall. His next steps did the same regardless of how quiet he was. Another noise began its echo, groaning.  Them some shuffling sounds. 

Something was moving toward him, he tried to get a lock on with his flashlight but it couldn't get far enough to be of help. Switching his flashlight to his left hand, he put his brass knuckles on and balled his fist ready to strike whatever was bearing down on his position. 

More shuffling, multiple groans. Jeremy froze in place, listening to the impending doom, his first tightened. Ahead of him and humanoid figure came into range of his flight light.  A nurse by the looks of it. 

She stood hunched over, her blue nurses scrubs in taters, dirty and covered in blood, hair half fallen out. There was a male nurse that came into view, he to was hunched over, holding himself up with his left hand, his face cut in half with surgical precision, its brain showing. 

Neither were moving fast or looked at all menacing, just disgusting and disturbing.  Jeremy's adrenaline pumping now, he dashed, fist raised and slammed his knuckles into her chest, her entire upper body arched backwards violently but her feet stayed planted firmly on the ground.  She quickly righted her self, catching Jeremy off guard, and swung her left arm with the scalpel in a wide motion. 

Jeremy was able to catch the attack with a blocked and kicked the nurse in her torso, this time sending her to the ground toppling over the male nurse behind her. 

Four more nurses came into view. 

Jeremy quickly ran and jumped onto of the female nurse landing on it skull with the full force of his weigh. It crushed on the weight. The decayed bones gave way easily, blood and bone splinters went everywhere. 

The male nurse had recovered at this point and the four other nurses were just about upon him. The male rushed forward as Jeremy himself was recovering and tried to bit him with only half a mouth, but missed as Jeremy rolled away. 

He pulled his longer chain out  and whipped it in front of him catching the zombie nurse on the missing side of its head splattering its exposed brain. It fell limp. 

One of the remaining four nurses scurried forward and fell onto of Jeremy sending them both to the ground, it raised its scalpel to drive into Jeremy but he managed to catch her arm and wrestled her off of him. Another nurse grabbed him from behind as he tried to stand up but didn't get a good enough grip allowing Jeremy to spin out and elbow her in the face. 

He lashed out with the chain, catching turn nurses in the stomach enough to off balance them. He had to get out of there, he wasn't doing enough damage, or if he was, the nurses had no pain receptors. 

He charged into one of the ones he just hit with his shoulder with enough force to send her flying back, and whipped his chain in a circular motion again catching several nurses in the face, enough for him to get to the other side of them and further down the hall.
